Why haven't the events of the Equestria Girls films been mentioned on FIM?

I dunno if there's already a topic on this but this has been bugging me for a while: how come the events of the Equestria Girls movies haven't been brought up on FIM even in passing? The movies reference events from the show and even take place between seasons; EG takes place after "Magical Mystery Cure" and even Rainbow Rocks gave us a preview glimpse into Twilight's castle prior to Season 5's premiere! And yet neither Sunset Shimmer nor the portal have been brought up on the show yet! Why is this the case? It's not like those movies aren't canon to the show as all signs point to the fact that they clearly are! Can someone elaborate on this?

Meghan made clear, that EQG dosen't impact FiM in anyway. They happend in a way, that Twilight was there, yet they don't want to integrate it into the general storyline.

they are probably trying really hard not to cross the streams.

keeping them separate makes them both more accessible to newbies.

when you start watching something, if you feel like you missed out because you didn't see what they are referencing, it can feel bad.

They're not canon. I can't remember who said it, but one of the show-writers said outright that the two are separate continuities, same with the comics. EQG is allowed to reference FIM, but not vise-versa because it takes place in both a figurative and a literal alternate universe.

Fair point. And yet Friendship Games hinted at a possibility of Sunset coming back to Equestria maybe for a visit on FIM. Alternatively, that "Twilight and Twilight in Twilight's castle" thing might also imply EG-verse Twilight showing up, too. Unless that was a glitch on the map....

So basically like how Torchwood has little bearing on the events on Doctor Who, they both happened in-universe with each other, yet Torchwood's events don't get noticed by the Doctor (Though I'm shocked he never heard about that Miracle Day mess; something like EVERYONE IS SUDDENLY IMMORTAL and yet he never investigates.....)

Maybe they will just make a 5 minute clip of Sunset going to Equestria for a bit, hugging it out with Celestia and then leaving again. It would be kinda difficult to integrate her into FiM and built her character all over again, considering not everyone watches Equestria Girls.

That'd be fine honestly. But that 2 Twilights thing from "Spice Up Your Life" still confuses me. I at first thought that would be the Changling episode coming up, but that doesn't seem to be the case, so what the heck DOES it mean?

I guess we just have to wait and see. But i seriously doubt it has anything to do with EQG.

I've heard the opposite personally; simply that EqG happened within in the context of the world of FiM, but it also doesn't affect any storylines that the show plays out. It can go either way; I suppose.

I have heard both that they are not canon or that they are canon, just not effecting FiM in any way. The second one still sounds pretty non-canon to me. I am happy for this though. Integrating EqG into FiM would be faaar more trouble than it is worth and honestly, I do not want humans to be canon at all in FiM. They don't exist in Equestria, so I prefer if we just keep it at that.

If they ever do decide to reference the Equestria Girls movies in Friendship is Magic, they will have to do it in a way to avoid any confusion or paradoxical things. The movies have made reference to the series with how Princess Twilight mentioned not responding to Sunset's messages as she was dealing with Starlight's attempts to alter the past in The Cutie Re-mark at the end of Friendship Games, and Twilight's castle makes an appearance in Rainbow Rocks, indicating that those events happened after Twilight's Kingdom, so if the movies are ever referenced in the series, that will be interesting to see and hear once it happens.

People really just don't like Equestria Girls for some reason. I personally love EQG, but someone must have created a pact somewhere that real bronies aren't allowed to like EQG or something. 

 

It's one of those things where you have to wonder if DHX knows bronies' hate of EQG, or if they just simply don't see any need to combine both worlds. Both answers seem equally plausible to me.

Allow me to rectify my query for this topic: what I kinda mean is how come Sunset doesn't get name-dropped once in a blue moon on FIM. The EVENTS of the EQG movies don't have to be mentioned but I'm surprised Twilight didn't mention her to Starlight yet!
