Hasbro and Youtube

Yeah, I've been hearing stuff like "Hasbro keeps MLP stuff on YouTube!" But I noticed alot of videos, even some channels, were removed. I guess they had to remove at some point. Y'know, copyright infringement and all that stuff...

Where can I download the episodes for free?

edit: NVM, found out about youtube downloader, gotta get the episodes downloaded as fast as possible before hasbro removes them all :o

I like to watch them on YouTube, but doesn't it sound more awesome awesome when you can watch them...

1) while knowing you've financially supported the team who make the show

2) in perfect quality (HD purchased download versions are better than uploaded YT ones because they have a better contrast, black/white differential, less fuzziness in darker scenes, etc.)

3) on the go (if you buy with a service that lets you put it on your mobile device)

Besides that, I think YouTube is the go-to place if you don't have the money.

My journey in the fandom started on April 5, 2012. I joined here on April 24, 2012. Where that journey is headed now, who knows...

I wonder when the UK will even SEE a release date for MLP on iTunes. It's been well over a month since Episode 26 of Season 1 aired on Boomerang.

I've noticed that this aggression seems to be limited to the episodes of Season 2, and only the actual episodes. The Let's Watch videos seem to be for the most part, unaffected (probably because they're like product reviews). But honestly, they've always done this.

I think the reason they're starting to get aggressive again is because they're probably getting ready to release Season 2 on DVD.

(edited)

I think it's understandable. They were decent enough to wait a week or so after the second season wrap-up. If you didn't download them by now, they want you to buy them from iTunes. Sorry, but in other words...You snooze, you lose! I have every single first and second season episode safely on my desktop "C" drive, an external hard drive, my netbook, and burned to DVDs that are playable on my stand alone DVD player. These are the banner free, HUB pop-up free episodes a friend was kind enough to convert for me.

(Second season. I downloaded the clean first season elsewhere.)

PS. My version of "The Last Roundup" is the ORIGINAL unaltered version!

PPS. PM me with an email address, and I'll point you toward where to find what I have.

Every time I've seen an episode taken down on youtube due to copyright, there was always a typo in the spelling of Hasbro.

Dang watermarks.

Check the spelling of hasbro when you see a copyrighted page. If it isn't spelt correctly, it's most likely some little 9 year old who thinks it'll make him cool by removing our videos.

Wait. Let me grab my Google goggles

source: http://www.derpyhoovesnews.com/first-evidence-that-hasbro-is-taking-down-yt-channels/

While Hasbro appreciates the enthusiasm and support of its many MY LITTLE PONY® fans, it must protect its intellectual property rights, and we cannot permit the copying and posting of full or partial MY LITTLE PONY® Friendship is Magic episodes to YOutube or anywhere else.

To that end, Hasbro’s policy is to request that YouTube remove any Friendship is Magic ™ episodes (full or partial) that have been uploaded without permission. Unfortunately, an inadvertent typo in a few of our take-down notices seems to have created the misimpression that these requests were not legitimate and did not emanate directly from Hasbro. We regret the confusion that this has caused.

As a fan of the MY LITTLE PONY Friendship is Magic series we trust that you will respect Hasbro’s desire to protect the integrity of the show as well as its intellectual property rights.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this kind of post on EQD before, but I can't find the link yet

I can see why there removing but I will probably be forced not watch the shows if they go through with this. The only place I can watch is treehouse where the show plays at the worst possible hours, and only 2 days a week, and to make it worse they only play season 1 repeats.

This is speculation, but it doesn't really matter if Hasbro is OK with it or not. Hasbro's not the only company who has an interest in distributing MLP episodes. There's also Apple (iTunes distribution), Netflix (streaming), Discovery (co-owner of the Hub), Shout Factory (DVDs), etc. All of those companies stand to make money from distributing MLP.

Thing is, it only takes one of them to complain. For example, Apple might say "no one will buy episodes from iTunes if they can get them for free off YouTube", and then that forces Hasbro to take them down, because if they allowed the videos to stay up, then they're likely breaking their contract with Apple.

Is the actual Hasbro company taking down these videos? I have no doubt about that whatsoever. However, the question of if they're doing it alone, or if another company is forcing them to do it - that's a much more difficult question to answer.

Hasbro taking these vids down is a joke. It's going to be up there I can't say it's not worth trying. I still have somepony that uploads videos consistently and hasn't even been warned on one.
