Wow, this is big. Huge even. Only time will tell if the support is wide enough to justify porting big PC titles, but this definitely bridges the gap between console and PC just a little more. While third party "adapters" that convert controller input into a mouse and keyboard exist, this is the first officially licensed move that works not as just a converter, but actual mouse and keyboard support. Sony is taking a big step and just made themselves look more appealing to PC exclusive devs who now have this option for games on the PS4.

 

This more than likely will line up with the PS4.5/PS4 Neo announcement next month which will more than likely boast specs that put the system more on par with PCs. If so this is a brilliant move by Sony and I am expecting a similar one from Microsoft considering Project Scorpio is boasting PC level specs as well. I have a feeling that the gap between consoles and PC will get a lot smaller this generation...

Yup! That was my first thought. This makes perfect sense too since Microsoft is hitting hard for that Windows 10 cross play. This is a different approach to the strategy and I think it might work just as well!

wow this is a surprising move from playstation it seems xbox is trying to go fro the casual or home market while ps4 is trying to aim for the hardcore gamers lets hope that playstation will use it well

A keyboard and mouse for gaming for the PS4? Not sure why this is surprising; this already done for the PC by connecting the gamepad to it and play it normally.

This statement makes very little sense but whatever.

 

Since keyboard and mouse doesn't interest me in the slightest, this doesn't really mean anything to me. Honestly, this will only really be well applied to a few genres of games and even then, will it be truly supported?

Interesting. Don't really play any fps games on it yet, but I might at least try Overwatch eventually so it'll be nice to have options then.
