Seems like the show is moving beyond Flash now

With the acquisition of Boulder Animation (which specializes in Toon Boom) it seems that they may not use Flash anymore after FIM, both for the movie and a future MLP series.

Mahaps or mayhaps not. They are still hiring people experienced with Flash, and a specific asset and resource plan has not been announced so any speculation may be premature.

 

That said, it seems like the smart path to go, it just may not be fortunate for the creative team already on the show.

But honestly they've pushed the limits of flash pretty far, and I wouldn't mind seeing what they do with a new format.

I could see them changing the animation within either the movie or more likely, G5. I just hope that if they decide to go with a new animation style, that it still has charm like the current one does.

IIRC isn't Toon Boom the primary method of animation to be used for the theatrical film? In any case I doubt we will see much of a change in the show; however it is important to note the improvements that the show and even EqG has had in Flash animation since the early days. Amazing when you consider it.

Dude nothing's been confirmed, can't keep passing off your speculation as facts. It looks like Toon Boom is gonna be used for the movie, but absolutely nothing suggests that they're gonna move away from Flash all together

I doubt we'll see them using Toon Boom for the show, as as far as I know, flash is still cheaper, better to make half an hour episodes with it. I DO KNOW however, they're using toon boom for the 100% pony movie
