OmegaBeamOfficial 622 September 10, 2016 Share September 10, 2016 So, obviously I'm a little late bringing this up considering we're over halfway through Season 6 now, but regardless of how she's been handled in Season 6, do you think it was a good idea to have Diamond Tiara reformed in Season 5? I understand that the whole redemption thing has been done to death in MLP as a whole, but for me It's honestly refreshing and I welcome that. In most of the TV, movies and media I watch usually the antagonists either get killed/ their plans are foiled or something, escape to fight another day, or in less extreme cases like Diamond Tiara, are generally used as the bully stereotype throughout a show's whole life span. So It's nice to see a show that takes a different approach, and I like the idea of everypony having a happy ending. From Seasons 1-4 I didn't like Diamond Tiara, but that was because she was written in a way that makes it so we're supposed to hate her, there aren't any problems with the character herself. And don't get me wrong, Diamond being a bully had It's perks too, episodes like Babs Seed have shown us that. But if there's one thing I find important in a show, It's that the characters need to develop, and I think since the Mane 6 have had plenty now, It's only fair to start doing it for the side characters too. Diamond Tiara's reforming episode was one of my favourites in Season 5, the whole idea of the story was just interesting to me. Plus, with Diamond not being a bully to the CMC's anymore, that opens up tons of new opportunities for episodes, maybe where the CMC's try to help Diamond Tiara be a better friend, after all, It's not something she'll have much experience with after 4 Seasons of tormenting. Call it mean-spirited if you will, but I hate bullies. They're not even doing anything with the reformed DT this season, so why'd they even bother? 1 No questions asked. To be honest, I don't see the CMC's or anypony else committing suicide, even if we disregard the show rating, most of the time they just tried not to let it all get to them. And I was thinking a punishment that's more of a chore than a beating. Diamond never physically attacked anypony in the show with an intention to hurt them. She was more of a verbal bully, getting to ponies feelings through talking and manipulation rather than an attacker. But now that you mention it, that would be interesting. I also kind of wanna see a prequel episode, showing when Diamond Tiara first started to bully and all that kind of thing. I meant rushed in the episode itself. It did work with the CMC's getting their Cutie Marks so it is not entirely a negative, but seeing some slower progression within a single episode would have been a bit better. Maybe it could have worked better if it had more time, like if they made it a two parter or slowly progressed Diamond's reform as the season continued. Then before they have got their cutie marks, reforming was necessary. But I don't think Diamond Tiara really needs a massive role, Derpy doesn't have a role and she's still a character, as does pretty much any side or background pony. They should have made it more gradual and hinted her doubting her actions throughout multiple episodes. I'm definitely not one of those people who, after watching that episode, had the mindset of "I LOVE DIAMOND TIARA NOW!" keeping in mind the multiple times she treated the CMC poorly; most notable to me is when she kept insulting Scootaloo by telling her that she is not a real pegasus because she is not able to fly. 1 Pony Art Thread Brony since ~25 July of 2011. She needn't anymore. But I separate minor characters who Tiara was, and background ponies who Derpy is. Diamond Tiara was a character sometime. Yeah, that Scootaloo episode really got me in the feels. It's a shame Season 5 didn't have a story arc, this probably could have been an idea for one. And, don't get me wrong, while I like Diamond Tiara a lot more now, I like to keep what I think about pre season 5 DT separate from what I think about post Season 5 DT. Actually, after seeing the Season 6 premiere just recently, I honestly kinda see where they were going with that. I think It's neat to have Twilight teaching somepony the ways she was taught before, and having Starlight try to make up for her actions and dealing with the guilt she has for what she did in the past. I think Diamond Tiara's reformation would've been a lot easier for people to swallow if Crusaders of the Lost Mark had been a two-parter. Part one would've focused on the election, Pipsqueak's decision to run and established Diamond Tiara's relationship with her parents and Silver Spoon, while part two would have Diamond Tiara losing the election, having a falling out with Silver Spoon and being befriended by the CMC's. I would have remove half of the songs and just kept The Election Song, The Pony That I Wanna Be and We'll Make Our Mark in addition to making it a two parter.
