Anyone else think it strange Twilights parents haven't been prominently shown?

After watching Flutter Brutter it got me thinking. We have seen the others parents more or less but not Twilights really. We have seen Rarity's, Pinkie Pies, Rainbow Dashs', Applejacks have passed, but outside of a small cameo we haven't really seen Twilights. Being both and Alicorn and now a Princess wouldn't it make sense her parents would assuredly visit her? I know some will say they could have but happened off screen, still, I would think there should have been at least one episode where they are shown for prominently. Thoughts?

I don't think there is much to say about them, maybe that's the reason? I mean, they're unicorns, parents of a prince and an alicorn princess... they may be skilled in magic, explaining their children's facility with it, but apart from that... even so, the other parents made a pretty minor appearence each, sooo it's maybe not THAT important you know?

They're already juggling a fairly sizable cast of characters for a kid's cartoon, and although I'd have no objection to an episode focusing on Twilight's family I don't think it would necessarily add anything of great value to the cartoon as a whole.  I don't feel that I'm really missing out on anything significant by her parents not being more prominent than they are.

But to be perfectly honest, Applejack and Pinkie Pie's families are the only ones to get a really decent screentime.

Outside of maybe Shining Armor as well, but not Twilight's mom or dad.

Noticed this as well. It is a tad odd that we prominently got to see Flutters parents even before Twilight's. An episode sorta-dedicated to them would be really neat.

They have no reason to prominently show them if they're not involved in the story they're telling. And they don't have a reason to go out of their way to make sure there's an episode with a story that involves her parents.

Though we have not seen Night Light and Twilight Velvet much in the series, I was happy to hear them talk in the Season 6 premiere when they showed up at the end to see their new granddaughter.

 

Maybe the writers will consider having them as the center point for an episode centered on Twilight in the future. Also, if it is not centered on Twilight, there's always Cadance and Shining Armor since Shining Armor's their son and Cadance is their daughter-in-law.

I think Twilight's parents have more combined appearances than any of the other parents in the show. Fluttershy's parents are the first to have a prominent role in an episode, Pinkie and Rarity's parents are background characters, Rainbow Dash's parents are unconfirmed, and something happened to Applejack's parents that apparently no one wants to talk about.

 

Even so, absentee parents are a constant in the show, understandable for the Mane 6 given that they are responsible and adult in their roles. Scootaloo has not had a word said about her family either. Though it is ignoring some story opportunities, this has become an accepted quirk of the show.

Ehh, I think they're alright just being on the sidelines. As said, there's enough characters as is, and the only story I'd really like to see from Twilight's parents is how they react to both of their children becoming royalty. I'm much more interested in meeting RD's family, even if just briefly; we haven't seen anything of them.

I don't think it is a problem. They are not main characters, and have been shown a few times. I wouldn't mind them being shown more though.

I think that there's no new episode idea to incorporate her parents and if they already did, it should already been done in earlier seasons. Strange that the subject of parents in general hasn't been fully utilized in the show.

It's not explicitly stated that's her father, and I recall reading around here (namely, this thread) that one of the animators said that "no character has appeared who can be described as RD's father." Woulda been with you on this before that. however.
