Equestria's Tartarus

I am curious what other people think. I have my own thoughts on the matter and will reserve them until a few people vote.

I see it as more of a super prison than the actual mythological Tartarus, due to the TV Y nature of the show.

It's more of a super scary prison, instead of the real thing due to the fact that it's a kids show.

Considering that there's no evidence of anything painful there and the fact that inmates are restrained, I see it as a prison rather than a place of torment.

From what we've seen, it's a secure location to lock away villains who can't be banished or frozen in stone. Though that does bag the question of what else dwells within besides Tirek, and if they're worse than he was.

Considering Tirek isn't actually dead but still in Tartarus it seems more like a prison than an afterlife. That said, there's no reason why it can't pull double duty. I mean, Hades was both the place where souls went and where Hades himself lived. Being an immortal deity, for him it wasn't an afterlife. For all we know Tartarus keeps monsters contained and 'accomodates' the souls of the dead.

It's treated more like a prison for Tirek. There might be other prisoners but not mentioned. It's definitely not Hell which is a place you go when you die.

I'm saying Tartarus is Equestria's highest security prison since Tirek sent Celestia, Luna, and Cadance there to be imprisoned like he was in revenge for his own imprisonment by Celestia and Luna's hooves in the past, but once he was put back in for good, they were released along with getting their Alicorn magic back.

 

I'm certain Cerberus knew full well that Celestia, Luna, and Cadance did not belong in Tartarus as they've done nothing wrong to deserve imprisonment there and was relieved when they were given their magic and freedom back. As for Tirek, he'd be better off as Cerberus' next meal as the death penalty for what he pulled again the Royal Family.
