Thrond 3,272 October 15, 2016 Share October 15, 2016 If you want to have someone that sets up future arcs for characters, I honestly think that songco is the best bet, even if you disliked their episodes: I won't say LOE was amazing quality, but what it DID do was set up a MASSIVE amount of potential for future EQG features, as it started to try and build a framework for the mane six's ability's and WHY they have them, with a stinger that's perfect for future plotlines. Additionally, Gauntlet of fire establishes a massive new amount of information about the dragons as a race and provides for a number of potential plothooks AND character growth opportunities for spike. So I can understand that you might have disliked their offerings, but I must say that, for building up future plotlines and paths for characters, Songco and Lewis seem to be VERY good at envisioning possible futures. That lore setup was the only interesting thing about "Gauntlet of Fire," so I see why that might be the case. If they chart the course and the likes of Confalone, Rapp, Vogel etc. follow through with it, that would be fairly satisfying.
Unlikeable Pony 2,700 October 15, 2016 Share October 15, 2016 On the topic of goals and overarching plotlines for the show and the mane six... Its kind of hard for them to introduce more goals and plotlines for the group as a whole currently without them taking some heavy risks and shaking things up. Specifically, they introduced the 6 with very specific goals for Rarity and RD, and zero goals for the others; Twilight had zero goals besides "please celestia" until S3 for example, and AJ, pinkie and fluttershy have NEVER had any real goals.RD has reached her life's goal of becoming a wonderbolt, and Rarity has more or less reached her life's goal too now that she has successful fashion stores in equestria. So... what goals and plotlines do you introduce for them now? As things stand, their "Mane" goals have been achieved, and if you just start adding in minor goals, its going to run the risk of seeming inconsequential towards them, and if you add in some Major new goals, you'll have people upset with them seemingly Discarding their Original goals or having them overshadowed by new goals, which will run the risk of making some fans think the characters are being derailed. Likewise, if you try and introduce some major goals into AJ, pinkie or fluttershy's life, when they've shown ZERO inkling of ever having goals before, you will run the risk of upsetting fans who feel that it would feel jarring and out of character. This late into the game, its going to be hard to introduce too many new plotlines for the group without shaking things up in a major way-- and you run the risk of making it look like you're jumping the shark if you shake things up TOO much. So the staff is in a difficult place for adding in potential.
silvadel 1,394 October 15, 2016 Share October 15, 2016 Well, despite what some have said, the show has survived incredibly well despite the early departure of its creator Faust, unlike some shows like Spongebob and the departure of Hillenburg. If FiM can survive the loss of faust, it should weather the storm of Haber and Larson's departure. Bring back faust for season 7. THAT would be news. Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight. Write the character with some nuance and make the story around them solid, and boom, you've got something. Even better if these stories are directly related to stuff established in earlier episodes, making them feel more personal.

So the staff is in a difficult place for adding in potential. That's what happen to a long-running series, if they break the status quo too much, they jump the shark, and if they dont change anything, they will become static and it's not healthy anyway, and "End It" is not an available option, how tragic m telling you, incremental growth in fresh new settings/stories is the way to go. The easy ways to develop character/story further is MAKE THEM LOSE SOMETHING IMPORTANT (Kill a character is not an option in this show, i dont think they got guts ). People learn from falling, right? Make them fail MISERABLE at what they did best and boom, you got character development. In other stories, whenever they want to develop or change the direction of the show, they KILLED THE BEST CHARACTER, i saw too many of that shit

The only real thing she "possesses" besides her wonderbolt thing is her ability to fly, and that's not something that would work well to take away, unless its just so you could immediately give it back. I sort of feel like just being a Wonderbolt is enough to open up plenty of new possibilities for Rainbow Dash, so I don't really think she has a whole lot to worry about. Chuckles4lyfe 442 October 16, 2016 Share October 16, 2016 Larson and Haber not returning, while sad did not surprise me. He may be the fandom favorite, but if season 6 is any indication, the remaining show staff have shown us that the show can still be excellent regardless of who returns and who doesn't. #Squadgoals "But that day...The day I discovered racing...I proved that the legends were true. I made the impossible happen!"—Dash "Friendship isn't always easy, but there's no doubt it's worth fighting for."— Twilight Sparkle
heavens-champion 1,907 October 17, 2016 Share October 17, 2016 Haber's message was a little ambiguous. He could be saying that he won't be returning for season 7, or he is just toying with us and is returning for season 7.
Drunkfrank 1,125 October 17, 2016 Share October 17, 2016 The new writers have been doing better than the og ones this season. With the exception of 28 pranks later ofc MLP is fine, the OG writers are good, but people burn out after 6 years of one product.
cider float 2,539 October 19, 2016 Share October 19, 2016 Well good riddance. As long as the animators aren't leaving than that's all that really matters. Writers and voice actors are a dime a dozen after all.
