Ninjaed 527 November 5, 2016 Share November 5, 2016 A tag system would do little to promote character variety, especially if the game was based on an IP. You'd just be getting more of the same match-ups in bigger numbers. The only thing that could really circumvent this issue is the matchmaking system. There could be online filters that weed out the people using characters you don't want to see. Or if the game had a ranking system, some kind of point multiplier that favored characters that aren't used often: like if Cadence had the lowest usage online, you could get the highest number of points possible winning with her, whereas Twilight, having the highest usage, would give you the lowest and thus a better reason to pick someone else. It's so simple, yet companies don't want to implement these ideas for some stupid reason. In any case, my preferred genre for MLP would actually be a 3D shooter like Splatoon, in that doesn't contain gun violence but an appropriate substitute. What I meant with the tag system was to have another character to cover weaknesses of the first one, but not all. Because of that, no perfect tag and you'd have to choose a different tag partner even if you pick the same first one. Then I thought of my "capture the flag" thingie or whatever, and highly preferred this anyway. Much more diversity. Do you know LoL, or DotA? More than 100 characters in there and you see almost all of them - with some being more picked than others true, but still. Don't mean to make it a MOBA mind you, just a diversity example. For your matchmaking, that would make it harder for everyone to find mathes, especially the Twilight (in your example) players. They'd be given low priority and if 40% matches have Twilight, the guys in those matches will not want to have another Twilight, but they won't be in the same matches, so it won't be 60% of all mathes available for the Twilight players, but far less. I think that may be one of the reasons. Though if there really is too much of one character, there's a bigger problem elsewhere. MLP: Splatoon edition. Others have mentioned it and it could be much fun, yeah!

But for most people, it's just another excuse to look at it like, "Oh, there's two slots? Great! That means I get to play Twilight AND Rainbow Dash! I'm not even going to look at anypony else!" Granted, I've never played games like League of Legends, but this is definitely the case for fighters. But even when you look outside of video games, there are strategy games that are loaded with viable choices. HeroClix is one of those games. But in any social setting, you get nothing but Spider-Man and Wolverine. No questions asked.

kaiser5578 340 May 26, 2018 Share May 26, 2018 Trixie, she has illusions being able to screw with what the enemy sees is my favorite part of any game (Though i suppose not every game can have TF2's perfect balance in character dynamics where nobody is useless)
Dust-Shot 122 May 27, 2018 Share May 27, 2018 I don't know why, but I think Derpy would be a class that would use heavy weapons. If we are talking about the class-making of FPS's like Call of Duty or Battlefield, I choose anything I want since I can customize every single thing. If we talk about TF2, I play withwhat fits my style, so I choose whatever I want. Piece of cake. I hope somepony makes a Splatoon game with MLP. You have things you do in shooters like Battlefield but apropiate and able for kids to play. Yeah, I don't mind the Fallout: Equestria game and wouldn't mind a "Trotting Dead" game either, but kids are the thing that bought us the show. If they wouldn't be, Hasbro wouldn't have made the show for them.
