Is it time for Twilight to relapse?

Like Party of One meets Lesson Zero relapse, because the princess role, grooming potential successor who is a mental case who can't distinguish moral ground without having to be told, constantly trying to meet Sunbutt's expectations, along with being a perfectionist who doesn't think she is prone to flaws like every other pony (like jealousy) just snowballs and gets to be too much for her.

 

Anyone else think that like any realistic person, she's overdue for a relapse when stress is too much? Personally, I want to see molting and talking to hotdogs (parodying "The View" hosts, where someone dressed as Twilight was talking to someone dressed as a hot dog) levels of craycray.

Your description of her sounds very hostile. I am sensing some pre-meditated bias.

 

With that though, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing an episode like this. A new one, where she breaks down due to stress. I would rather it not being because she is a princess because she has that on lock, but it could be a new thing. Like some new threat comes about and she stresses on how to deal with it. This could go on top of other stresses she might have. Her friends help in the end, friendship saves the day and all is good. I do not think her freak out should be as huge as before though.

As much as I loved those episodes, I doubt will see anymore major breakdowns with her to that extreme. I imagine they will still see her struggling with some of those issues, but I think she has taken large enough strides to no longer have a psychological melt down if things don't go exactly as planned.

 

To do so IMO would be a sort of stumbling on the character and the progress made.

I don't think Twilight is going to suffer a mental breakdown so severe that it would cause her to do something she would end up regretting later on. She has changed a lot since her early days so if anything, I can see her panicking a little bit and relying on that breathing exercise that Cadance taught her.

I do think if she went bonkers again, this time we would see far worse than a couple of ponies fighting over a doll, or talking to food items.

 

We are talking fire and brimstone coming down from the skies, rivers and seas boiling... forty years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes... the dead rising from the grave! Pony sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Something something 6 seasons of character development. 

 

To be honest, while I wasn't very fond of her breakdown in "What About Discord?," but while it might not fit that established development for her to freak out to quite the same extent, her established perfectionism does seem overdue for causing problems with her increased load of responsibilities. I think we've already seen her have stress-related breakdowns in the past few seasons - I'm not sure what else to call "What About Discord?," and while "No Second Prances" doesn't necessarily have her losing her composure, she does act poorly due to stress and expectations. For a while, I was starting to interpret that her expectations of herself are way too high, and I still think that might be the case. I'm not sure a "relapse" would be the right idea (although it'd be more fun than almost any appearance she has had in three seasons), but I would like her stress to get the better of her in an episode which analyses the root causes of it. It'd probably go a ways towards making her entertaining and relatable again, especially as some recent episodes have made her increasingly bland and infallible.
