SDvR always had good music. Well up until '09 on when they cut costs and threw in superstar themes.

Yeah. I usually turn off background music in my games & the WWE games were a big reason why.

That's actually why I favor the first SDVR. Music during matches. Felt off ever since. That and the commentary got more abraisive. That's usually what I turn off. Haven't liked a game announce team since Striker and Grisham.

I always thought  the music playing during matches was too distracting, TBH.

Feels more natural than the dead crowd and non-sequitur bursts of commentary.

I turn off commentary, too so, all I hear are slams, cheering & booing.

See, even then it still feels off to me. Crowd noise is inconsistent and the slams sound muted.

Maybe it's cause every fighting game I've played had music in it.

Music in fighting games is fine.

I've never heard music during a real professional wrestling match unless it was used to distract someone.

That's the thing though. It doesn't feel like a wrestling match. No music, just crowd and commentary make it feel weird. That and the perminant use of the hard cam through out.

I find it best just to see the WWE games as fighting ones. The more you treat them like wrestling Sims, the more dissapointed you'll be.

The 2K WWE games have better camera angles (If you turn on the option.), more consistent move-sets from game to game &

slightly better commentary.

The games themselves don't sound all that great though. The sound even less fun than prior installments.

I dunno, I guess we look for different things in wrestling games. I guess you want it more for the wrestling Sim aspect while I just like it as a fighting game.

  1. It's all about which wrestlers make the roster for me, nowadays.
  2. The 2K WWE games are usually one step forward & two steps back,
  3. Yeah, I guess so.

Personally I think Here Comes The Pain is a god-tier wrestling game, up there with the AKI wrestling games

I agree. All of those wrestling games are very easy to go back to.

  • 1 year later...

To be honest I didn't own a PlayStation 2 growing up - my brother had an OG Xbox and GameCube before moving onto Xbox 360 around that time, but I got one early last year and I really found myself enjoying the system and it's library. I've already obtained a pretty sizable library and I really found myself liking the Sly Cooper trilogy in partiular.
