Theory about Cadance's origin

Since we know Princess Cadance is the niece of Princess Celestia, we still don't know if she is the daughter of Princess Luna or some unknown princess. Here's my take.

In my opinion, Cadance is Luna's daughter. Also, I feel alicorns have a much, much longer lifespan than the average pony, but they're not immortal. Before Nightmare Moon's imprisonment, Cadance was taken in by Celestia and the rest of the royal family. A question coming from most about this theory thus far is: Then why was Cadance still a filly when foalsitting Twilight? My answer is refers back to as I said that alicorns have a very long lifespan.

There, short and sweet.

I don't know of this has been confirmed or not, but for some reason, I believe the only immortal (or extended-lifespan) Alicorns or Luna and Celestia. I mean, idunno, that's just my theory.

Princess Luna isn't married! :o

And she would never have a child... WITHOUT BEING MARRIED!...

I HAD TO FALL TO LOSE IT ALL BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER /WRISTS

they wanted to market pink alicorns to little girls

got sick of people bitching over pink celestia figures

this was their solution

i barely consider cadence canon.

We don't watch the show because we like pessimism :P

Let's stay optimistic. Author always gets the benefit of the doubt. The show is owned by a toy company, company makes demands, the studio makes a story to accomidate. Sometimes, though, working with constraints like that actually produces the best creativity and best shows/designs. It's really quiet surprising. It's closely tied to how asking "why" things are the way they are in a fictional world you're creating often leads to the best ideas. That's stuff that comes from the best writers. The best ideas come from trying to explain stuff.

Anyways, I think it works like this, and I kinda just fleshed out the idea in another thread; "Scootaloo"

...

And anyways, a more recent discovery is that genes can exist and remain "unactivated". Chickens, for example, have the genes necessary for a reptilian tail, but those genes are inactive normally. Maybe each of the three (ponies, unicorns, pegasi) have all of eachother's genes, but normally only one set is active at a time, perhaps the mechanism that enables a set of those genes can only fire once, or one set of genes being activated stops other sets from being activated, and so alicorns are an extremely rare almost "freak" mutation or some kind of abnormality where all sets of genes are turned on.

...

That's what I'm going to stick to for the purposes of my fanfics. Unactivated gene sequences are somewhat a new discovery, though I doubt it's a new idea (after all, red blood cells have different genes activated than muscle tissue cells!), but it's only recently they've been really able to experiment with it like they have.

Anyways, on that note, alicorns are an extremely rare, freak genetic mutation. Just like the Cakes', two Earth Ponies, can have a unicorn and a pegasi, on extremely rare occasion an alicorn can be born. Maybe she got adopted into the royal family just because she was an alicorn. So far, all the alicorns we know of, Celestia and Luna, have had some great destiny. So just like Celestia took in Twilight, who had great potential, for her personal protege (a word I just had to google. I guess you get a big vocabulary after 1,000 years, huh Celestia?), in that same way, imagine news reaches her of an Alicorn found as a baby in an orphanage! Seeing as the only alicorns that otherwise exist have held the elements and control the heavens and are monarchs who have lived more than 1,000 years, obviously an alicorn is significant, so I'd think Celestia would adopt her, or at least have her raised in a royal position.

Alternatively, there could be a whole group of alicorn royalty we don't even know of... After all, we haven't known of Shining Armor until now :P

Maybe it's some other princess related to Celestia generations ago

Btw you spelled it Cadance

Because for some reason spelling it 'Cadance' sparks less controversy than spelling it 'Cadence.'

Seriously, I don't even know anymore.

Adoption is actually quite a possibility.

Other Mane 6: Twilight, there's nothing wrong with Cadance!

Twilight: She isn't acting right.

Other Mane 6: What do you mean?

Twilight: She's adopted.

Maybe Alicorns are a rare, dying breed, of ponies who have the same life span of other ponies, and Celestia and Luna are deities in the form of alicorns.

I don't think Cadance is Luna's daughter for three reasons: 1. They look NOTHING alike. 2. If Luna were to have a daughter, wouldn't she be eternal or at least live much longer than the average pony? From Twilight's flashbacks Cadence appears to age the same as other ponies. 3. It is my belief that since Celestia and Luna are over a thousand years old, and although they look young, they probably are just sick of sexual activity. If Luna did have Cadance before her banishment, her absence for 1000 years would mean that Celestia would have to raise Cadance and that's unrealistic since Celestia had rule Equestria, raise the sun and moon, both of which are VERY demanding.

As for cadance's origin, I think she is related to Celestia and Luna in the fact that they all came from an ancestor alicorn but otherwise that, she has no direct relationship with them. Other than that, there's just not enough information about her yet to truly formulate a good history or origin of her. After all she is only known in the season finale. Hopefully we'll see more of her and Luna in Season 3. :)

I'm gonna propose that Cadance, like Prince Blueblood, is simply a very distantly removed niece, which Lauren Faust said was the case with Prince Blueblood. From the MLP Wiki, and I quote:

Lauren Faust stated that Celestia's nephew had no name in the show (before The Best Night Ever aired), and that he's the "great great great great great great great great great great great (and probably even more greats) nephew on Celestia's and Luna's mother's side, about 52 times removed, roughly speaking."

Now, I'm not saying that Cadance is that distant a relative from Celestia and Luna, but I think she's a great niece of theirs to some degree.

This could be true, but Cadence has bright colors as opposed to Luna's dark. Perhaps there is another princess they will introduce?

You could say that, but she might have got recessive genes from celestia, or the parents which obviously had somethin in them to make celestia
