Spike development.

Has Spike ever had any character development in the show?

Sorry if i sound a bit mean here, but i think people are way too overconcerned when it comes to Spike. He could probably have 10 episodes of his own this season, and people would probably still find a reason to think that he is underdeveloped.

Look at the show people. There are so many other great characters in the show besides Spike. He is not the main character of the show.

I also like Spike, but this is getting ludicrous.

It's more that this season isn't building on the potential left for Spike from the last season.

Then just be patient for once. It's like every week a new episode comes that dosen't have Spike in it, it's always "OMG they forgot about him, he is underused, he is the buttmonkey again, poor spikeywikey, etc. etc. etc." This is a variety show, not the bloody "Spike the Dragon" show.

I would disagree with that. Discord is left mysterious and evasive by nature. I would suggest Spike has had more growth over the seasons than Discord in almost every measurable way.

Rewatch season 6 with episodes like Gauntlet of Fire and The Times They Are a Changeling, and try to tell me that Spike hasn't received character development.

Spike HAS had alot of development! I mean he isn't receiving much in season 7, but that doesn't mean he never had development. He's just getting a weak amount of attention right now. I say, season 8 is gonna really look up to him - that is if Scorpan appears physically on the show! Trust me, once we see Scorpan, things are REALLY gonna look up to him! I know he's Tirek's brother, but if the developers really wanna bring Scorpan to the show, they must have some clue about G1, and his relationship with G1 Spike.

I got the feeling Scorpan was the reason Spike's egg was in Celestia's school in the first place, because G1 Scorpan gave G1 Spike to the ponies! Meghan will know exactly what to do with him once she returns to the show! Season 4 was really perfect in my opinion, other than just a few flaws! So maybe Meghan coming back might be the best thing to do!
