Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,577 June 29, 2017 Share June 29, 2017 With each generation of game systems came games that pushed those systems to their limits or showed just what the system was capable of doing on a technical level. Here I want us to delve into that very basket of games, the ones that were superb technical showcases for their respective platform. What games do you think fall into this category? One of them for me, is Dead Rising on the Xbox 360. While the performance was not always spot on, this game really showed a lot of what the 360 could do. showing a huge amount of zombies on screen while keeping an overall impressive graphical look still impresses me. It also had some really good lighting in places.
joanro 247 June 29, 2017 Share June 29, 2017 I know I probably sound like a broken record, but I think Gears of War 4 is one of the better looking games on the Xbox One. Despite the Xbox One being less powerful than the PS4, I think this game looks amazing.
Steve Piranha 29,428 June 29, 2017 Share June 29, 2017 Well, despite Nintendo getting a low point in quality since WII, they've never left aside technical aspects of the game. You have to get WAY out of your way to find technical issues and stuff Sig by Discords
Celli 4,338 June 29, 2017 Share June 29, 2017 Breath of the Wild is a graphical and technical marvel for the Wii U. Just a fantastic looking game. Also Witcher 3, especially the PC version, though the Xbox One and PS4 versions look pretty damn fantastic as well. There are a lot of lot details and effects that make the game more immersive. For instance, trees and grass blow in the wind, which a lot of realistic looking games tend to omit.

Crystal is even nuttier considering the animations. 22 hours ago, Celli said: Breath of the Wild is a graphical and technical marvel for the Wii U. Just a fantastic looking game. I have Witcher 3 for Xbox One and I really need to start it sometime, I have heard it is a masterpiece in the genre. 22 hours ago, joanro said: I know I probably sound like a broken record, but I think Gears of War 4 is one of the better looking games on the Xbox One. It's one of the best open world action RPGs out there. Have you played the first two games?
Luminance 2,186 July 20, 2017 Share July 20, 2017 Crysis for the PC. Computers at the time couldn't even run the game at full visual settings because of the intense graphical requirement that didn't exist at the time. It was a benchmark game to test your PC in 2007 and people would built super PC's just to run it. I finally got it to run really good with a 9800GTX graphics card. Good times... The fact that they managed to fit two regions in that small space is amazing Spoiler Its actually interesting how the early pokemon games saved space. One of the ways was that there was only I think 32 pokemon cries in the game but by the the game telling the gameboy to play "cry number 5" faster or slower or modulated it sounded at least different enough to the player while only storing 32 individual cries. Another of the ways was to simply share values between aspects of the game data. If you know enough about the literal RAM data structure as well as knowledge that certain values overlap with others to save space you can catch any pokemon you want knowing that a certain "Special Stat" value is also shared with a pokemon encounter. It can be explained in this video at 15:40 Spoiler
Celli 4,338 July 23, 2017 Share July 23, 2017 I'd like to add Metroid Prime 1 on the Gamecube. It's a fantastic looking game that still holds up visually today if you ask me.
Guest August 6, 2017 Share August 6, 2017 (edited) I remember Red Faction 1 being really hyped due to its (at that time) ground-breaking Geo-Mod engine that allowed for unparalleled environmental destruction. Luminance 2,186 August 12, 2017 Share August 12, 2017 The last Forza game for the xbox 360 which is Forza Horizon. Really great game that transformed the closed-circuit racing and introduces it into a open world environment full of beautiful terrain and roads in Colorado. I believe it showed off the capabilities of the 360 for one last time before signing off the franchise to the xbox one. For its visual style and time, it's a game that always looks good for the 360.
