T h i s. I've had multiple occasions where I had to photoshop the photo just to get it in the right position.

I believe that's already possible as I did it with my profile page signature image and I did it on my IPod touch. You might be having other technical problems as it's just probably the feature isn't working for you because of a problem on your computer. It's likely cookie related to. Anyways it's a feature with the profile image but if it's not a feature with the profile signature image then it's probably just my bad memory playing tricks on me. :)

I've had this problem multiple times too, I wonder what went wrong.

Huh. I honestly thought that was already a feature, but I can't find it now. Putting this on the list for the dev team, when we get one.

It is a feature. The user should be able to adjust it slightly. Odd.

I don't know. It may have been turned off or removed because of the tendency for the user to adjust the image too far upward (usually to position the main features of the cover image on the desktop version of the site). The problem was you would see the tell tale grey when viewing it on a smaller device where the image is framed with a different height and width. That isn't the case anymore. Basically, many profiles looked ugly on one version because of it.

This is an interesting dilemma that designers in general have faced off against .... there are a few ways around it ... some are trade-offs. Removing the ability to adjust is one of the trade-offs.

I do recall some complaining about the grey bars when the new version was launched ... maybe this was the solution?
