I agree. Also Table top gaming was my bread and butter for a while. I have an off and on group I play with on weekends if we're all free. Me and one of the other guys there always try wacky builds and characters for a laugh. Like his last one was a Kittenmancer (I shit you not, the class name isn't right but that's his whole thing, he morphs into a kitten gaining a tonne of Sneak and hide xD) and my last was a limitless range Sneak attacking Deepwood sniper that used initiative to run the fight from turn one.

Kittenmancer

This word mane my day, I got to find a way to draw this.

Remind me the last boss of half minute heroes, an ancien creature made of thousands of kittnes glued together with jam (devil itself if you want my opinion)

YES! Finally got past the thing I was stuck on in Valkyria Chronicles. (More like I died like once and didn't feel like dealing with that BS at the time LOL)

I was on chapter 8 where you are separated from your tank and you have to get Welkin and Alicia behind the mortar (which has like two shocktroopers and a scout guarding it) and then go down under a cliff guarded by an ace sniper to go up a ladder created by the broken bridge (which prevented you from just crossing the river chasm and getting to your tank in turn 1) to get to your tank. On top of that there was a shit ton of enemies attacking the other six members of your party and your empty tank on the other side of the river. I figured if I started with a rival it'd make it easier to get past the shocktroopers at least, and it helped a tiny bit I suppose, but after that the sniper was useless. The ace sniper right near there kept ducking under my shots so I decided to leave that and he eventually got taken down (I didn't lose anyone though cuz I rescued them in time)

I called for some reinforcements after a few people got taken out (including Rosie and Largo -___-) and then I got three really good shocktroopers hiding behind the sandbags after I took out the mortar cannon with Alicia and Welkin and they pretty much massacred anyone who got even remotely close. I suppose I got lucky though because all the lancers and tanks were aiming for my tank and so didn't take out the sandbags or the three shocktroopers. (I took one tank out with Largo before he got shot down) I also had an engineer for repairing the tank when I needed to. :D

Overall, the chapter started out rough but got gradually easier and I think it's all thanks to those three shocktroopers I had there that took out like...everything together while I waited for Welkin to get back to the tank, then I just bombarded the enemy until it was done. xD

I love Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal. Those are RPG games, right?

I also like Zelda (not sure if that counts as an RPG). I like Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Link to the Past, and Twilight Princess.

I also like Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. Also Oblivion and Skyrim, although for whatever reason, I got bored of Skyrim really quickly.

I also like the Mass Effects series, although the ending I got for Mass Effect 3 was terrible and really confusing :/

I also like Dragon Age:Origins. Dragon Age 2 was not as good in my opinion, although I liked the combat improvements (I played the xbox version, I'm assuming it's different than PC version).

So yeah, that's pretty much it...

Pokemon is what's known as a "monster master RPG" or something along those lines. It is still definitely an RPG but it's one of those genres that has a very different basic design than "traditional" RPGs like Dragon Warrior/Quest.

And as for Zelda, like I said in my first few posts, it's really up to the person. It's one of those series' that there probably is no true right or wrong answer as to whether it's an RPG or not and people will argue about it for eternity. It has elements of an RPG but for many, including myself, it is an adventure game which is an entirely different genre.

And I dunno about Dragon Age 2 but the first Dragon Age is apparently extremely different as far as gameplay goes on the PC version than it is on the console version.

I fucking suck at RPG games, the only RPG games i have finished were: Pokemon - Kingdom Hearts Series.

I actually got really sticked to Final Fantasy 7, i had like 11 hours, then when i got to the free roam part... i was lost, i couldn't find anything related to the main story, i was always dying because i had no fucking potions and had to do all the way again, died again, all the way again, and then died again, and then all the way again, and then getting lost and a super huge fucking monster appears and i don't know what the fuck to do and it attacks me and i died then all over again then meet him again then DIE AGAIN AND THEN DIE AGAIN AND THEN DIE AGAIN, and finally i took the CD and kicked it and it broke.

So you got out of Midgar and couldn't find Kalm when they specifically told you to head in a specific direction? :P

That giant monster you ran into was probably the Midgar Zolom which is an enemy that is nigh impossible to beat when you first see it and you actually have to get a Chocobo to get past it.

FFVII is not the best RPG to get into RPGs with anyway. It's not exactly friendly to newcomers but as far as RPGs in general go it's also one of the easier ones. RPGs take patience and you gotta look for things instead of just expecting them to be in your face like Pokemon or Kingdom Hearts.

I could find Kalm and everything, where i got stuck it's after the Chocobo race in the Casino, i fall in some kind of construction place and enemies raped me, and the desert was like infinite. And what RPG do you recommend for a newbie like me? I REALLY want to get into these games, but i can't find a game that really takes me in to what a RPG is.

Oh, when you said you got to the open world part I thought you had just gotten out of Midgar. xD

Yeah, that place is a bit tough. Are you equipping your Materia properly? I don't remember much about that particular part of the game but always have your materia equipped because as you get AP you'll get closer to leveling it up and getting stronger spells.

I was around level 17, and i couldn't equip any materia, i was like, empty.

You sure? I don't remember them taking your materia away....maybe they did. Or you could check your materia menu and go to "exchange" cuz it may be on your other characters. You can easily switch material from one character to another so you don't have to unequip and reequip it before you run into bad situations.

lol Well you could always get it again, or if you have a PSP or PS3 you can get it off of PSN.

I wouldn't buy any of these two just to get stuck in a future part and then kick one those consoles.

Why everyone find the mass effect end disturbing? I didn't played the game but from what I heard the end isn't as happy as epoples expected.

In this game we are dealing with creator and destructor of univers, machines near as powerfull as god.

Do peoples seriously hope we can win without colateral damages?

And for the Dragon Age serie:

The first was awesome as a RPG.

The 2 was good as a beat em all for console, and was an insult to the strategic PC players.

I wouldn't buy any of these two just to get stuck in a future part and then kick one those consoles.

But it's the only way to play with a main character which hairs defied the gravity more than Sora's ones.

I don't know if people find it disturbing so much as unsatisfying given the feel of the games previous to it. In the past games you always had options. obviously people don't expect to win without collateral damages, but when you've been playing a Shepard that has had the attitude throughout the games that if one answer isn't acceptable she'll find another way to do it, you want an option to try and fix the world you've been fighting for so hard rather than wipe it out and start again in any of three ways. Also, in ME3 the paragon and renegade actions didn't make much of a difference, they were superficial choices that gave the appearance of a different game while not holding true to the more open feel of the previous two games. I recall a time in the game where I literally had no choice but to select the renegade option, or die. It was very upsetting because of the change in narrative tone not because it wasn't happy enough.

On the other hand, you dont allways realy have the choice.

When you are trying something realy hard you might just fail even if you try.

And when you are facing a desperate situation, it can happen that the result is the same no matter your actions.

Sometime things happeneds even if you dont accept them

Bloodlines was an awesome game. The ghost hotel was very well done tonally, I think.

Had to reinstall the game and make 3 characterr because of glitches but I finaly finished the hotel.

Totaly creepy I loved it.

That is true of life, but people play video games to escape that sort of problem. People play a game like Mass Effect to be the hero that stands against insurmountable odds and still overcomes them. It gives you hope, it makes you happy, and it maintains the narrative tone of the heroic epic that was set up by Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. I'm not saying that an ideal ending needs to be possible, but an ending that allows you to maintain some semblance of what you've been fighting for (for years if you played the game as it came out) is what was needed.

So you're playing a Malkavian?

But to me a RPG is ment to be closer to the reality than another game.

After, as I said, I cant play ME3 so I cant give an exact opinion about the ending.

But i'm not shocked by a not so good, or even a bad ending in a video game.

I'm trying to play a Malkavian, but the game is completly going mad (or is it my computer).

I think I'm just gonna give up and go back to it when I'll have a real computer and not the crap I must deal with.

That's too bad, for the few I played (I was killikg vampire infected by a misterious disies or something) the game was preety good, and the Malkavian's dialoge were priceless.

An occasion to finish the game allready installed that I never finished (dont look at me like that i'm sure you haev some too).

Hitman 1 or Dead Space?

I think I'll go for Hitman.

Sory guyz, there's not only RPG in my life.

Dead Space  <-- that is my face that says "why did you not choose Dead Space?"

Cuz it scares me :(

Because i'm close to finish hitman, and I'm not even at the middel of dead space.

Maybe I'll even start it back from the begining, I dont know this game scares me soo much, but that's also why I like it.

I'm I a Malkavian or a masochist?

Ha ha ha you can be both. For sure. In some versions of Vampire: the Masquerade masochism is a derangement you can take to fulfill the required derangement you have to take as a Malkavian.

I highly doubt ME3's ending is nearly as bad as anyone says, things regarding story never are, but until I get ME2 I can't even get ME3. (I don't have a PC or 360 so I can't play ME1 unfortunately)

Been replaying Megaman Starforce Pegasus the last few days. Love this series soooo much.
