Should there be a G4 background-pony spin off to coincide with G5?

We don't know if the latest rumors are true, but if FIM is indeed ending with nine seasons, I don't believe it should necessarily be the end of G4. Because even if Hasbro feels like they've done all they can with the Mane Six, there are still plenty of characters from the lore with lots of potential for developing their own story arcs.

Not to mention-

Slice of Life was one of FIM's most important episodes. Regardless if you liked it or hated it, the fact it even exists, along with all the merchandise these six have gotten compared to other background ponies, proves that Hasbro is aware how much of a following they have. And they barely got any growth at all, which means they're still profitable.

So what if someone proposed a new series that took place in the same universe as FIM, but with the background ponies at the forefront? We could get more world building out of G4's Equestria without retreading old storylines. The Mane Six, and all of FIM's supporting cast, can still drop in for guest appearances from time to time so it wouldn't alienate old fans. Plus, more continuity references is always a good thing. Who wouldn't want to see an episode that explored Lyra's old friendship with Twilight? Or Bon Bon's career as an agent working for Celestia? And maybe we could finally hear Vinyl talk?

Plus, if it retains the same art style as FIM, it wouldn't conflict with anything happening in G5's universe. The new characters there would no doubt look totally different, so the two series can co-exist despite belonging to the same brand. It wouldn't be the first time Hasbro had capitalized on old gens; Transformers is still getting stuff made for its own G1 universe, and it all manages to sell without hindering the progress of any new cartoons or movies.

I rather see a follow-up, called season 10, with Flurry Heart as main character?

Most of us do. But this is a subject assuming that won't happen.

That's not going to happen. Making shows costs money and hasbro won't risk making a show with background characters, that are only loved by the hardcore fandom, not to mention EQG is still supposedly continuing after the end of the show, so the time schedule is also very tight.

The  economics of a cartoon show. Stations buy broadcast rights for a show, then make it back by selling advertising. This puts a sharp limit on what they can pay. Cartoons cost more than that to make (for now). Hasbro makes their money on

1)Syndicating reruns (this is what happened to Sponge Bob) & DVD sales

2)Merchandising. That is, write the show off as basically an advertisement for the merchandise & movies (Disney)

I'm not sure Hasbro would think that the returns would justify the expense of 2 MLP shows
