KillerKingBakudan 702 April 5, 2018 Share April 5, 2018 The ponies in the present might all be living together in peace, but the villains that surface are always causing trouble on a massive scale. That prompts the ponies to run or fight back, and with the Mane Six getting pushed into these conflicts, there's usually a lot of hostility between them. That's something the Windigos are known to feed on. So why aren't they coming back to freeze everyone perpetuating the fighting? Even in the Cutie Re-Mark's alternate timelines, they don't show up when it's clear that Equestrian society is struggling with wars, slavery or total destruction. That's a lot of conflict building up a smorgasbord of negative emotion there, and they're not taking advantage of it? Or did they just die somehow? I don't get it. 1 No questions asked. Jade Fire 7,059 April 5, 2018 Share April 5, 2018 they did say they where a myth a few times, maybe thats true?
KillerKingBakudan 702 April 5, 2018 Author Share April 5, 2018 Just now, Jade Fire said: they did say they where a myth a few times, maybe thats true? I don't remember them being referred to as myths. The three pony tribes certainly weren't. And without the threat of the Windigos, they would have kept hating each other, and Equestria as it is wouldn't exist. No questions asked.
Black Sabbath 2,488 April 5, 2018 Share April 5, 2018 Am I the only one who assumed the windigos were nothing more than a made up story to scare children into being nice to each other?
Kadeda 178 April 6, 2018 Share April 6, 2018 (edited) I think it's a case of time. I think eventually, they would come back. Say... a war was to happen for a year or two... then they show up and freeze everything. With the timelines... I just assume there hasn't been either enough time or turmoil. Xe__or 4,378 April 6, 2018 Share April 6, 2018 Maybe because it wouldn't be interesting enough? I mean they would be more like tools than actual enemies I think... maybe the writers didn't come up with a decent villain who can control them yet? 1 hello my name is Xe__or and this is disney channel
Ganondox 899 April 7, 2018 Share April 7, 2018 Until the windegos show up in something other than a story, I’m going to assume that they are myths.
Hollow Wing 51 April 7, 2018 Share April 7, 2018 Given the technology level of the setting, I wonder if the Wendigos were just meant to represent a uniquely harsh winter that left a lot of ponies in danger of starving or freezing to death, forcing the different civilizations of ponies to pool their resources and help each other out.
Drunkfrank 1,125 April 7, 2018 Share April 7, 2018 They were destroyed by the Fire of Friendship. They aren't myths, that's ridiculous, ponies thought Nightmare Moon and the Pillars were myths and legends as well, they were not. The wendigos are the factual history of the founding of Equestria, they are simply called mythical because they haven't been seen since the fire of friendship. 12 hours ago, Hollow Wing said: Given the technology level of the setting, I wonder if the Wendigos were just meant to represent a uniquely harsh winter that left a lot of ponies in danger of starving or freezing to death, forcing the different civilizations of ponies to pool their resources and help each other out. An interesting theory, but given in the history Clover The Clever, who was a powerful and supposedly intelligent unicorn (being the apprentice of Starswirl himself) directly called them wendigos in the story, which has no reason not to believe other than one line Starlight says in that one episode. But have the show ever confirmed that they weren't myths? I mean, Nightmare Moon and the Pillars being real doesn't really prove anything.

They talk about that history as if it's fact a few times, recently in School Daze, I don't see how the history can be real except for the wendigos.
