Back during the war with Therdore Rosevelt, there was a Gatling Gun which you can turn the handle & the gun would fire. Plus it was on wheels so they can pull or push it. This is true, but they'd only be useful from a fixed position. Krall 263 December 4, 2011 Share December 4, 2011 Even with an enlarged trigger guard, using an entire appendage to fire would make guns an accuracy nightmare. Battle saddles would work best. I think the reverse would be true - battle saddles would be immensely inaccurate compared to guns aimed and fired using the front two hooves. As a result Earth Ponies wouldn't be able to fire on the move, due to the fact that they can't walk far on their back legs, so it's possible Earth Ponies would use weapons mounted on mobile platforms, or they might be dedicated grenadiers (imagine the Battle of Appleloosa, but replace the apple pies with grenades). Pegasi don't need their legs to fly, so they could hold and fire firearms whilst in flight, and Unicorns, as you say, are an exception due to their telekinesis. Could just be tradition, like how british red guards (not sure about the name) use outdated firearms. I believe you're referring to the Foot Guard regiments of the Queen's Life Guard, but unfortunately they actually don't use outdated firearms - they use modern SA80 assault rifles. A better example would be the Papal Swiss Guard, which still uses swords and pikes, in addition to wearing uniforms that look like the world's most ridiculous pyjamas. Sunnymilk 40 December 5, 2011 Share December 5, 2011 I doub there will be any confirmed canon cannons if you know what I mean. but seeing as Pinky has a party cannon it will not be too far fetched drawing the conclusion they have military use cannons aswell. pipsqueek also went as a pirate on nightmare night, ever seen a pirate without a cannon or a gun? but seeing as it is a kids show a gun will most likely not be shown on screen. Yeah...no point in having guns. But as for Rainbow calling the turtle "Tank", simple explanation. Tank can just mean what tank means in RPG games. A sturdy heavyweight. As for firearms, they're canon. :40 seconds in on Cutie Mark Chronicles, Scootaloo asks where she can get a cannon at this hour. And le'ts not forget in "Sweet And Elite" that Pinkie has a party cannon that she fires off. If you haven't seen them yet check out the Starcraft 2 pony portraits. Gives a nice example of the ponies on the battlefield.
