Oliver frowned at Jenna calling herself stupid. "Don't put yourself down like that. You're really smart if you know to do all this right off the bat. And you haven't been caught yet, so that must mean something."

"Like I said, I'm smart compared to you, but I'm stupid compared to other dragons." Jenna insisted "And I have actually been caught twice now, I just happened to be lucky in fights and got away." "You have to remember that while I'm probably impressive to you, I'm basically just a child."

"Or you can outfight them," Oliver pointed out, smiling at Jenna. "Kids can still be impressive and outsmart or outfight adults, dragon or not."

He looked ahead at the road. "You managed to escape twice and you beat that guy back there, that must count for something."

"It's luck." Jenna simply said "If they were to send an actual full grown after me instead of other hatchlings like the two have been, I have no chance." "And I know this for a fact, because I have fought them, and back then they didn't intent to kill me and were holding back." "At best I will survive until old age if I'm specially lucky, but i won't be one of those who bring down Talon."

Oliver frowned. "Well, they only sent one guy after you and you beat him, so who's to say you can't do it again?"

He grinned at Jenna. "I definitely think you're tough enough to handle it. And I'll help you."

This was something Oliver wouldn't succeed at convincing Jenna about "You think so because you don't know what they really are capable of." Jenna simply stated "This is not some random group somewhere underground, Talon has more power than some if not most countries do." "The reason why they only send one Viper is because they have more important targets."

"I'm just saying it isn't hopeless," Oliver pointed out, smiling at Jenna. "We just need to be careful and think about what we're dealing with. Like I said, everything has a weakness, and we just need to find theirs."

"Surviving isn't hopeless sure, even though it gets harder by every moment." Jenna said "But there's no hope for us two to take Talon down, not that it necessarily would be a good idea anyway." "Because if Talon falls, the Order loses its only enemy, and they may finally succeed at driving us into extinction." "But also if the Order falls, Talon will take over the world." "Only way we rogues could win is that both Talon and Order would collapse at the same time."

Oliver frowned. That made sense, but as usual he kept thinking of possible solutions. "What if we had some help? I mean, you can't be the only dragon running from them, right? There's bound to be others who agree with you."

"That's the thing, nobody besides the higher ups at Talon knows how many of us there really is." Jenna explained "Nor do we know where they are if they exist. " "It wouldn't be hard to believe that I'd be one of the only ones still alive, since we are a tiny species when it comes to how many there is of us, due to our reproduction being very slow." "There is rumors that that one legendary rogue has a fair sized underground network of humans and dragons, but like said, it's a rumor."

Oliver's eyes widened a little at Jenna's last point about a rogue. "It might be a rumour, but I don't think it'd be too out there to think such a dragon exists, right?"

He smiled a Jenna. "I mean, you can't be the only one who feels the way you do about all this."

"I'm definitely not the only one that feels the same, but i may be one of the only ones who is rogue." Jenna said "Because if there's something Talon does well, its keeping dragons in fear." "So many don't have the courage to go rogue, and those rogues that have been captured....well, they are in the 'retraining', which like I have told is not training, but actually something worse than dying." "And though it is fully possible that the rumors are real, we need to also accept that they may not be."

"Well, they couldn't have captured all of the rogues," Oliver pointed out. "There's bound to be more than just you out there, and maybe they can help us out if we can find them?"

He grinned at Jenna. "We're bound to have some allies out here."

"Actually they could have." Jenna said "It's unlikely, but possible." "Because like I said earlier, there's not that many of us as species, and besides the eastern kind, all of us are born into Talon." "And if there is some Talon hasn't found, how would we found them?"

"I dunno, maybe they have some way to be found that Talon doesn't know about?" Oliver suggested with a shrug. "Like a secret code or something?"

He looked ahead. "I dunno, someone must have figured out a way by now."

"If they have, we don't know it." Jenna pointed out "It doesn't really solve the problem of finding them." "And it's unlikely we will just randomly meet them considering the some there may be are most likely keeping low profile."

Oliver nodded slowly. "Yeah, it won't be easy to find them, but I'm sure we will find them. If they know we're out here, they might give us a way to find them. Some way that these Talon people won't figure out right away."

"That then raises the question how they would know about us." Jenna pointed out "I'm not saying I don't want to find others, but the fact is that it will be pure luck if we manage to find each other, because at least I don't know anything that Talon couldn't trace but I could."

"I dunno, maybe they'd have ways to tracking us," Oliver pointed out. "I mean, if Talon supposedly can, why not these other refugees too?"

He looked ahead. "I'm sure they're out there, we just need to find them."

"How can they track us if they don't know we exist?" Jenna said "All I am saying is that though I'm always looking for others, don't make the mistake to assume that we will join up with someone." "And that's why our plan doesn't include purposely seeking them out."

"They'll probably find out about us, then track us once they know where we are," Oliver pointed out. "I'm not saying it's guaranteed that we'll find anyone, just that there's a chance that we'll run into them out here."

Jenna stayed quiet for a moment as there was nothing to add to the conversation.

She suddenly looked slightly sad "I know this comes out of nowhere, but what is it like?" "To have a family?" "To have parents?" "I have really wondered it."

Oliver blinked and looked at Jenna. He hadn't expected a question like that to come out of her, though as he thought about it, it made sense.

"It's nice, I suppose," he said, "to have someone looking out for you until you're ready. Weren't your parents there with you?"

"No, like I told you when we talked about Talon, there's no families or friends, only you and your teachers, only Talon." "I don't know who my parents are. My mother is somewhere in 'retraining', making offspring for rest of her life, a fate that awaits for me too if they capture me alive, and I don't even know how the whole father side of things work."

Oliver shuddered at the thought. He couldn't imagine what Jenna was thinking of her mother being in such a situation, or herself being in it.

"Well, maybe if things go well, she could go free too," he said. "She deserves better than that."
