Somnus climbed out from under the floor. He noticed a paper on the ground. It must've fell when the table was broken.

After a failed attempt at diplomacy, Equestria has declared war on the bigger kingdom of Vounó.

"Huh, if anything, I thought they would declare war on us. They must be a pretty big threat Equestria for Princess Celestia to even consider declaring war."

Somnus realized something.

"That Wyvern who attacked us on that mountain. I think he was planning to do a larger attack on Canterlot. They sent one thinking that's all they needed against ponies, but had no idea a more powerful dragon like yourself was there. I think that's what caused war to be declared."

Then Somnus laughed.

"Looks like the captain owes you another medal."

Ruby let out what could only be described as curious grunt "If they wanted to do it in the easy way, they could just drop the mountain on Canterlot before they get spotted." "But they probably aren't smart enough to do that." "I wonder if they know about my mother already."

"I doubt it. They'd probably have killed her. Unless of course they had something to bribe your kind with, but I highly doubt that is the case. If they did though, they'd betray your kind."

"It seems they are retrieving the body so they can find out the durability and strength of your kind."

"That isn't a bad idea. Doing this could help create weapons suitable for fighting off dragons. This will help test if cannons are the way to go or if something better is needed."

Somnus turned to Ruby.

"What do you think? Would cannons work? Maybe some ballistas to knock them out of the sky by hitting the wings? Airships for air combat? Wait no, airships aren't good against dragons, they are too flammable and not very fast. Oh! Pegasi armed with crossbows!"

"In fact, even I couldn't penetrate my mother's armor effectively, and our claws are made to cut it, and she was just about four times my size." Ruby replied, she was still muttering, but she had made it louder so that she would be heard "And like I told before, your heavy weapons are...not great, they can damage smaller of our kind, but are most likely too slow to hit, and after certain size even they become too weak, even with enchantments." "You need to use weapons that don't need to rely on magic or size to be able to go through the armor, and before you can come up with some kind of weapon that can do that, I'd suggest using our bones as a material for the weapons used against us.

"It wouldn't take that long. We have the technology to create it, we just never needed it. You see, technology is made because it is needed in some way. We lived so well without it that we never had the idea."

He went on to another thing.

"It would take a few years, maybe two to five. There are reasons why we can't make this technology. Creating things that expensive would destroy our economy."

"That doesn't make the species any more peaceful." Ruby stated "My kind have those who choose to try to go against their nature, they fail, obviously, but they do try, but that doesn't make us any less hostile species."

Somnus was pretty happy to see that both him and Ruby could agree on something.

Ruby didn't say anything, because she had nothing to add and was too tired to care to start any new conversations herself, not that she ever cared to do that. Calti had finally stopped going around trying to help her, and instead was now laying next to one of the wounds and purring quietly.

Somnus learned something from Ruby, and that was to remain persistent. It wasn't long until the older wyvern spoke up.

"Can you two fight? You two seem more like the fighting type than the hiding type. Somnus, I can tell by your armor that you have military experience. And Ruby, you are a force to be reckoned with. Plus, I hear your kind really gems. How about any shiny things you take from the enemy, you can keep.

"I don't know if Ruby needs to be out there fighting."

"Well, we'll just ask Ruby then."

The old wyvern asked Ruby.

"Do you think you're up for it? I'm sure some meds or something could help with that tiredness if it's a concern."

He went on to explain where to find these gems.

"Major cities have treasuries. Once we take over a city, you can have half the gems in the treasury. Our kingdom will take the other half."

"Interestingly enough, this would also hurt the economy of the bigger kingdom if we hit enough of their cities. The economy is very important in warfare."

"Taking over the cities would be difficult with just the militia. Maybe we can use Equestrian forces to give us a better chance in terms of numbers."

The older wyvern continued.

"We will get you some food, you will get some sleep, and when you wake up the painkillers will be here."

The wyvern left and returned with a decent amount of food for Ruby.

She checked the food for anything suspicious, then proceeding to eat, eating way past being full since she wanted as much energy as possible. After she was done she yawned "Do I go to that hole in the floor or is there another place I won't get bothered in?"

Somnus would be in the living room waiting for Ruby to finish her nap. At the same time, the older wyvern would be teaching him something, probably something important to properly fight wyverns.

Ruby made her way under the floor since she personally preferred it over a bed and fell asleep rather quickly 

After several hours she would come back yawning, her wounds now gone, only slightly lighter colored spots on her scales left to remind they ever existed. She muttered something about a leg but other than that didn't say anything.

"These should help you with your pain. Both of you should get ready, we will be taking over a town at the border. After that, we will take over some more towns on the way to their capital."

"They plan to conquer the bigger kingdom and make it a part of theirs. After that, they plan on becoming a democracy."
