"Wealth doesn't make you special. No matter how many gems you have, it will never mean a thing about you besides the fact that you have things. Physical items are temporary. Over the years, they will rust, weather, and fade away."

"Experience, memories, values, and things of that sort last forever. Even when someone dies, their memories and values can be passed down to someone else and can continue to be passed down. Why fight for something temporary instead of things that last forever?"

Somnus simply stopped arguing with her. Any conflict wasn't worth it and solved nothing. It killed him to argue with her.

"So what next?" Ruby asked when it seemed Somnus had stopped with the nonsense "Do we continue to the next place or do I take a healing nap?" she didn't feel absolutely anything regarding the argument, besides being bit annoyed due Somnus still trying to change her.

Ruby rolled her eyes, took pieces out of the wall and blocked her ears with then, and Calti covered her ears too "What is with ponies and singing."

One of the guards went over and turned off the machine.

Ruby took off the pieces of wall and 'accidentally' threw them towards the singer, she then laid down where she stood "Wake me up when we can continue doing something." she then closed her eyes, and stayed like that however long they needed to wait.

The pieces would miss and hit his karaoke machine, breaking it. The guard would then take the head off of his spear and use it as a stick to hit Ruby with. Of course, this was an enchanted spear since they needed them that way to face wyverns.

"If Silver Note gets eaten alive, it's his own fault."

Ruby got back up without saying a word or letting out a single noise, forcibly took the stick from the guard, and broke it into several pieces, since even enchanted weapon didn't do anything if it wasn't used like a weapon.She then moved face to face with him and after blowing a cloud of hot smoke on his face, she said with a voice cold enough to be felt "We are not in Equestria anymore, this is the last and only warning to all of you." she then kicked the guard sending him flying some distance, before laying back down.

After some time, the next set of guards and militia wyverns appeared.

"We are going to the next town. That one is already captured, but we think the opposing wyverns are on their way there to take it back. And I'm sure they heard of Ruby from the ones that retreated from here. Don't be surprised if they armored their wings or something. It is only going to get more challenging from here."

They didn't know that Ruby had made it very clear to Celestia that she would only follow the deal in Equestria.

Ruby muttered as she got up, if the Wyverns had armored their wings with steel, that wouldn't stop her claws and would really only slow them down, and if they were smarter and used something better, she was always able to go for other places, the wings just were the easiest. "Though, what is there in it for me?" "Since in attacks I get half of the treasury, what is the reason for me to defend?"

"You should probably listen to him if you want any gems. Besides, you are fighting with the militia where he is in command. It is your job to do what he tells you to do. Just like back home in Equestria where you have to listen to the captain."

 The wyvern left it at that. Somnus still didn't add anything. He didn't think anything he'd say would even work. Besides, he wanted to be in good standing with Ruby and he had to start now. After a while, they would find themselves at the town in need of defending. None of the enemies were there yet. It would be some before they got here due to the preparation they were doing.

"Something tells me that this will not be easy."

A spear was brought to Somnus and he was completely ready to fight.

"I've never seen an armored wyvern, but I've heard their armor is strong. Steel is like paper compared to it."

Betsy Violet hummed to herself as she swept the floor of the dining hall, taking care to not sully her long, turquoise dress. Her stomach growled, but she ignored it on instinct despite a pain rising up. Her build was incredibly frail - it was evident just by glancing at her she was anorexic. It didn't seem to bother her that much, however, as she continued her work during lunch and supper hours despite the princess' complaints.

None of the other employees spoke to her much - some had tried to even date her, but her emotionless persona rejected all of them. Thus, most of her time was in solitude, writing in her diary or doing her duties. On occasion she would set aside some time to go through her old diary she had purchased after her mother died of stomach cancer, as a way of coping. The first half of the small book was full of the heartfelt, devastated thoughts of her nine-year-old self.

To most, this would seem like quite the dull life - to Betsy, it was all she knew. Her mother had been a maid for the Rich's, so Betsy started to work for them when she turned four. 

As she was leaving the room, she noticed a note taped to the table. Sigh. she thought, exasperated. I keep telling them that'll ruin the table! Reading it, it turned out to be an order for her to go and attempt to talk to somepony, or talk to the first pony she happened to pass by. She rolled her eyes. But...who am I to disobey a direct order? I suppose if I must...say. I'm shocked they didn't give me yet another order to eat.

Seeing nopony around, and wanting to take advantage of waiting time, Betsy seated herself on one of the side seats of the table and began to write in her diary, often glancing over at the first page of her old diary, which she had pored over again and again. Preferably, nopony would catch her reading it or try to read it themselves.

And so she waited.

During this time, a red pony would walk by, but unknown to Betsy, this red pony was actually a disguised changeling who was thought to have been long since captured by the guards. He was blending in with some of the servants, and so far, it was working. Though, he was troubled by one thing that has happened recently. A green dragon he had been close friends with for a long time was recently killed, which devastated him greatly. He was going to make Equestria pay for the death of his friend, he already started making them pay by getting a wyvern to try an attack on Canterlot. Though the attack didn't work because of that Lunar Royal Guard and his red dragon friend, this still caused Equestria to enter a war with these wyverns.

Of course, the maid he was walking by would have no way of knowing any of this.

The older wyvern looked out into the distance and saw many armored wyverns coming their way.

"They've armored their head and neck also. They've really prepared for this one."

He looked into distance unsure if they could actually win.

"Remember fighting your mother? Imagine fighting legions of them with the same durability. Since it's armor, there should be weak spots to aim for."

Somnus prepared himself for a fight. 

"If our side ends up retreating, don't expect me to retreat also."
