Unless Nintendo has confirmed he will never be playable, I wouldn't lose all hope on him just yet. There is always the possibility of him being DLC. The huge surge of demand for him is fascinating, but it is definitely there and visible. He may be an assist trophy currently, but if he becomes playable, they can always have his assist trophy not being possible in any match he is in. Do not lose faith in the Weeg!

This meme stopped being funny a long time ago, now it's just obnoxious, especially with his fanboys sending Sakurai death threats and harrassing him

He's in the game as an Assist Trophy so it's not like he's been neglected completely. Though I'm not sure how they would be able to make him playable at this point without finding a worthy substitute for the role he portrays in Smash.
