They're not giving either of them an hour-length special in Equestria Girls, AND they did cut all of Pinkie's parts in that Trixie animated short uploaded a few weeks ago. To make matters worse, they're just adding more Rainbow Dash and Applejack to the Friendship is Magic animated shorts for some stupid reasons.

I have never stuck with a show that got rid of the main character, ever. It's a horrible idea in every situation... like harems.
