With Season 9 teasing shipping with "She's All Yak" , Sparity (IMO) has a Major Chance

And if you read the plot for that episode , Rarity will be involved, but does Spike play a part? Have to wait and see.  But it seems to me, that the staff is going all out in this final season, that includes doing possible ships, and this one involves members of the Student 6.  So what does that say for other teased ships, like Sparity, well if "Best Gift Ever" (Spike's song that is) is any indication, then there is a MAJOR chance of it and other teased ships or even new ships happening.

On the contrary, I think it has more of a chance of ending! But I don't think shipping two of the Student 6 really changes the situation. The problem with Spike and Rarity is not their species - Rarity just keeps teasing him and toying with his emotions. She doesn't deserve him!

It was a spur of the moment. If she felt the same way back to him she woulda said something by now

Spike is still a child and Rarity is a grown adult.  It would be pretty creepy for them to get together.  I highly doubt Hasbro would allow something like that to be portrayed in one of their cartoons made for children.

Smolder can quality to be paired with Spike. They're both dragons, and they're both around the same age as well, and seeing Spike had just hit puberty from the episode Molt Down, it's safe to say that Spike isn't a child anymore; he's a teenager, just still short in terms of stature. It's safe to say that Sparity will have to be ruled out, especially with Smolder being a likely candidate.

IIRC, even though Spike does care about Rarity, he seems to have lost interest of her over time, romance-wise.

Everyone keeps arguing about age and species difference while there's something much more simple why the relationship would never get passed a close friendship (during the show's time).

Rarity is a romantic dreamer (as seen during her crushes over Blueblood and Trenderhoof), she has known about Spike's crush since season 1 and never once has she showed feelings for Spike other than care and thankfulness. Not only that, but during Trenderhoof's incident she explicitly casted aside Spike's crush as if she had never even considered it to be important. These things tells us that she's simply not interested, not at all.

Of course, one could argue that she could start to see him from a new perspective while he grows and start things from there. But that's just speculation and fanfiction as long as there's still no reference on the show.

It's not impossible for something to grow there, but I think it's very unlikely that Rarity's perspective would change in whatever in-universe time we have left on the show.

Plus, it has been made perfectly clear that Rarity only sees Spike as a tool.
