Response to Doctor XFizzle - Peakaboo... Cricket? (Vector Three)

From the original (and quite adorable) thread, The Peakaboo Ponies.

I'd like to see them when they're done, very much so

Give me until Wednesday/Thursday.

Yeah, get that school work done first! I don't want to cause another young mind to fail.....>_> dun dun dunnnn

(Kidding, I haven't done anything of the sort...that I know of)

Basically, I decided to go CHALLENGE ACCEPTED and to do the vector. Surprisingly, it didn't take that long. Maybe 30mins to an hour? Here's the finished product - Peakaboo Cricket... wait, what?

There are some awkward things about it, but for a rush job, I think this'll be fine.

Hmmm... What is your pipeline for your art? The vector seems to have lower line quality than your usual work....

I think it may have been from experimenting with a different style than I usually do. I can understand why the line quality would be worse than usual. But I'm not sure what you mean by pipeline. Sorry.

Sorry, basically a pipeline.... Well this seems to be a good definition: A series of processes all in a row, linked by pipes, where each passes its output stream to the next.

So basically its what programs you use in what order to get the final product.

My pipeline for vector art is usualy pencil+paper>photoshop>illistrator>photoshop>final product

The reason I ask is because the lines look similar to the lines caused by the wand tool or the paint bucket tool on a vector image, but if its' the style you were going for then it's fine

Ah. I get it. I can't draw, so most of my vectoring just comes from sight. Then I just use Photoshop. This time, I wanted to screw around with using Strokes, so I had to use the wand tool when it came to bordering the ponies. I know there's a easier way to do this, but I hadn't realized it until just two minutes ago.

The eyes man, the eyes.

I know... a bit of a turn off for me as well...

One way I find pretty easy and not too involved is use the original picture, make it the size you want, then make your vector paths over the original, kinda like tracing. Then use the colors of the OC or whatever other pony you want and it'll be like coloring over the original but keeping the sharp lines of the original pic.

That's what I've been doing though. After I improve on my bordering/lines I'll be able to do much more than what I'm currently doing.

Are you using a brush to color in the paths or using a "fill path" option? Because a brush can give you the rough lines where as the fill option is sharper and stays within the path

No. The general idea was use the wand tool on the area of choice, and use the Stroke option. Its a very rough thing to do, but its not that bad. I only use the brush when I need to sliiiiiightly edit minor details.
