Forum Upgrade on New Years Eve

Jeric

Recommended Posts

On Thursday 12/31 at 14:00 PST, the forums will begin undergoing and upgrade to the most recent version of the software.

It should be noted that this update is a significant update and the current pony theme may break temporarily, as will a few custom features we have. When the forum is upgraded and back online I will post a bug thread for anyone to note issues with using the forum and between now and then I will try and itemize any settings or changes that you can expect.

As this is still 2020, pray this goes well :P

JK it will. Maybe.

What will be upgraded and changed in the new version of the software? @Jeric

We were a few minor versions behind, but I’ll link the major changes below.

https://invisioncommunity.com/news/product-updates/

Since the default IPB theme was revamped that usually means there will be some temporary impact up the MLP theme we use. There are some nifty features that I am thinking of leveraging .... :)

Wait for new year to kick in - if you'll do this on Friday, we'll get the first hint of whether 2021 may be as crappy as 2020 or not. kaZdxtE.png If nothing breaks, there's hope for the next year, but if something goes "OOF"...brace yourselves bVuh5CM.png

I don't exactly know what I am looking at there, I don't understand something hmm. So will there be more custom features and general upgrades? I hope that we can personalize our accounts even more.

Basically read some articles there, these mention improvements, that 4.5 will introduce.

Or maybe try this more-detailed format: https://invisioncommunity.com/release-notes/; It's basically a changelog. For the biggest changes, view the first 4.5 listed notes (happens to be 4.5.2). The software upgrade itself seem to focus on general layout and whatsoever.

... but what Jeric is thinking of... 1Cm0bed.png

Will banished members still be able to post blogs? Not saying names but some banished members have been posting blogs on the forums.

Plot twist: One can set their blog posts to be automatically published at a specified time.

So these blog posts you're referring to were created before these users were banned.

Magic?

You decide. bVuh5CM.png

Had a read and really am digging some of the new features. But now I'm genuinely curious if 2020 is going to get one last laugh at our expense. :/

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I'm going to ask this one more time. Will banished members profiles still be visible with this new upgrade?

Yes and no. This depends on what you mean by banished.

Invision, by default, allows all users to access a banned users profile. So yes. However, the default system does not visualize to other users that someone was banned. We had some custom automation that moved users from the normal user group to one named Banished. However this is no longer a supported feature. Basically, unless you know the person off MLPF, you won't know if they are banned going forward.
