Azureth 687 February 4, 2021 Share February 4, 2021 Do you think it's similar to real life ponies or do you think they have above average lifespan?

I think that they have a slightly above human average livespan - say, 120 years or so - provided you get to be old and wrinkly like Granny Smith or Grand Pear.. ᚾᛖᚹ ᛚᚢᚾᚨ ᚱᛖᛈᚢᛒᛚᛁᚴ - ᚦᛖ ᚠᚢᚾ ᚺᚨᚦ ᛒᛖᛖᚾ ᛞᛟᚢᛒᛚᛖᛞ
Landi 600 February 4, 2021 Share February 4, 2021 My guess is about 80-100 years. In the show, pony lives are based off of human lives, so I'd say the same could be said for their lifespans. Plus, making their lifespans either too long or too short would really just complicate things. It would make them less relatable in a sense. 1 "Here we are, don't turn away now, We are the warriors that built this town" - Imagine Dragons
SharpWit 2,682 February 4, 2021 Share February 4, 2021 @Landi72 has the right idea, but I'd like to add that pony lifespans have likely lengthened over time just as it has for humans with the advent of better access to food, healthcare, and technology despite its limited advanced application within the show that's generally improved their quality of life. Wanted to include this more to highlight the significance of Celestia lonesome 1,000 year reign and just how impactful it has/could have been with the inclusion of additional generations that may go unspoken for. cuteycindyhoney 13,307 February 5, 2021 Share February 5, 2021 I think that ponies may have much longer life spans than humans do here on Earth. Granny Smith seems to be quite old, but is still going strong! (Not talking about Alicorns. They seem to be near immortal) Thank you Sparklefan1234!!! azbat 306 February 5, 2021 Share February 5, 2021 Alicorns are a mix of the three basic types of ponies. They get flight from pegasus, magic from unicorns and longevity from earth ponies. The only old pegasus I can think of is Foggy Fleece, who says "Yeah! I could watch you fly all day long." in Sonic Rainboom. At the Silver Stable Retire Community, we don't see any pegasus and the two unicorns in Dusty Pages' band look much younger than any of the earth ponies living there. Pinkie has plans for her parents 50th, 100th and 500th anniversaries. Based on Granny Smith's lore of Ponyville, she must be hundreds. In episode 100, Dr Whooves mentions a "lifetime of work, well centuries, really". 75ponii 153 February 5, 2021 Share February 5, 2021 unicorns: 80 years earth: 150 years pegasi: 90 years alicorn: immortal by choice, so if they ever get tired or things have gone too long on i wouldnt see it as impossible for them to give their alicorn immorality away this is just headcanons though and nothing that could be backed up as being true besides the more earth pony elders there are in the show rather than that other races it is a little weird though that going through the magical EQG portal Twilight is then a teenager rather than an adult like in the normal pony world 1 King of pony dads, Minuette superfan, G1/G3 timetraveler, and background pony enthusiast
Ruby Sapphire 18 February 5, 2021 Share February 5, 2021 I'd say similar to humans, at least for the earth ponies. Unicorns and Pegasus ponies may have longer lifespans. That's how I like to see it as you would assume that magical ponies would live longer either naturally or by magic.
O-78 28,607 February 5, 2021 Share February 5, 2021 All three races probably have about the same life expectancy as humans, maybe slightly longer. 2 Signature by @Mellow Mane
