Storm king needed? (Opinion)

Does anyone else after having watched the movie feel the storm king as a character was completely unneeded and that it should just been Tempest as the mastermind?

 

I feel like tempest serving him easy so wasteful in that it seems to better serve the story of she had a redemption arc all alone.

I have thought that many times. The Storm King (except for the concept of having a big dictator controlling the land and army, which is used in the movie at many places, like the town or the pirate ship), is really not used well, and is killed off in the end. A one time villain that has an expensive voice actor that doesn't seem that interested in MLP of its fandom.

Tempest was a good character that was popular long after the movie was forgotten.

The first Movie Prequel issue was about him, and he was a key side character in the others.
