For the first time since The Lost Tales was released in 2007, the show that introduced character driven story arcs into sci-fi and helped lay the blue print for everything from Firefly to Mass Effect to The Expanse, Babylon 5 is finally getting a new movie. And for the first time in its thirty year history, it will have an animated feature. With the likes of Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Peter Jurasik, Bill Mumy and Patricia Tallman all reprising their roles in the shows most ambitious project yet.

That looks great. And I'm really glad it will be on disk, though I can't find a way to order it yet. I suppose a theater release it too much to hope for but that would be awesome.

For the last couple of years I've been stressed about this reboot shit I've been hearing. Still pray THAT never happens!

According to Amazon it streams August 15th.

Most of the time I tend to agree. But JMS will be the one leading the reboot. It'll be the first time to my knowledge that a modern take will be done for a series with the original creator at the helm. That and it'll be pretty hard to continue the original story. This animated movie is the only real way around it. After this, I do hope that there is a reboot, just so today's audience can experience the B5 universe. Better a reboot than not at all.

I say better not at all than a reboot. I see no point in endlessly remaking things that were great to begin with.

The story could be continued through animation, books, or comics. Or we could just revisit the classic whenever we want.

Something new in Babylon 5 - awesome.

I heard about the reboot though. I'm hoping it's going to be good. With so many of the original actors dead there is no way to have a sequel, but maybe the reboot is going to be good, after all, JMS is doing it.
