What is the season you find that has the best episodes in it and what's the one that you find that has the worst episodes in it?

I find season 5 the best imo, there is a lot of awesome episodes in it (9. Slice of life; 7. Make new friends but keep Discord; 15; Rarity Investigates!) not only this Starlight finally appears!
I find season 8 the worse season compared to the others, most of the episodes are ok and quite boring tbh, with very few remarkable episodes.

I would rank the seasons from worst to best in this order: 8<1<9<6<3<2<4<5

How about you?

For me the First Four Seasons were the show's peak, making them into my favorites, but if I really need to choose just one, then Season 2, in my opinion it had the most memorable episodes and interesting character arcs for the mane characters (Lesson Zero, Sweet and Elite, The Mysterious Mare Do Well, The Last Roundup, Hurricane Fluttershy, Secret of my Excess, A Friend in Deed...), introduction of Luna, Discord, Chrysalis, Cadance, Shining Armor, Flim & Flam, Daring Do, The Dragons etc, starts and ends with two outstanding two-parters with two of the most memorable villains in the series, had some of the most memorable songs (Smile, This Day Aria, gosh), William Anderson's score thematic continuity is stronger than ever, love the extended use of the "Harmony Theme" in both the endings for "The Return of Harmony, Part 2" and "A Canterlot Weddjng, Part 2" holy shit I just can't describe how amazing this Season was :-D and I didn't even mention the episode "Sisterhooves Social", which almost made me cry and was the episode that made me consider myself a fan, it's from Season 2! :mlp_rarity:

For worst Season, well since I don't really dislike any episode, but I do think there are the "weakest episodes", and I personally think the series started to lose some of its creativy and struggled to make all episodes feel memorable after Season 4.....hmmm, hard, I would say Season 8, I liked the student six and the school of friendship, from the last four Seasons I think this one had the most potential, but I think the concepts were just wasted, but the other Seasons also have some problems with originality in my opinion (specially 6 and 9) it's hard for me to say. Ranking them, it would be like this:

  1. Season 2
  2. Seasons 1 & 4 (feels like Season 2 but some episodes aren't as good)
  3. Season 3 (weaker of the first 4, less episodes, but still awesome)
  4. Season 5 (the show starts to have a "decline" for me here, but it's the best of the later half of it)
  5. Season 6,7,8 & 9, all in no particular order (both are equal for me, 6 and 9 specially lacked in originality, but for me the four struggled to have episodes as good as the ones from Seasons 1-4 and 5)

My favorite is between S5 and S7, if I had to pick it’s probably S5 since for S7 the first half is doing all the carrying as the second half kinda stumbles.

Least favorite is easily S6 or S9, 6 is probably the worst of the two but S9 was the season that got me to quit watching halfway through so I default to it. To this day I still haven’t watched the finale

My favorite is season 5. Great season, only bad episode in my eyes was Princess Spike. All the rest were fantastic. Plus it introduced Starlight. Runner up would be season 2.

Least favorite… I’m going to say season 6 because to me it marked when the show started to noticeably decline in quality. You have some real bad episodes that season like Newbie Dash, On Your Marks, Flutter Bruther, 28 Pranks Later… I could also see an argument for season 8 or 9 being the worst.

I love all FiM seasons, but in my opinion some are better than others.

Normally, I divide these in three blocks

Very best seasons:

  1. Season 7
  2. Season 5
  3. Season 4

Great seasons

  1. Season 2
  2. Season 1
  3. Season 3

Good, but with potential to improve

  1. Season 9
  2. Season 6
  3. Season 8

i haven't seen everything yet, it seems to me that i'm at season 8 but i have a lot of struggle to finish it because of the episodes that i find quite repetitive and not as interesting as they were before.

for me, the best season were the season 2 and 4, and worst is without hesitation season 8 for now.

My favorite is season 4. Not only does it have my favorite episode in the entire series (the epic "Twilight's Kingdom"), but it has so many other strong episodes too. "Flight to the Finish" in particular is an amazing one, and the season also gave us the debut of the adorable Coco Pommel, as well as that of Maud Pie, one of the best side characters. Even the episodes generally considered weaker appealed to me – I think "Somepony to Watch Over Me" is really underrated, for example. The only negative I can think of is the slightly underwhelming season premiere, but that's nowhere near the worst episode of the series either.

My least favorite is season 3 – not that it's particularly bad, but it just doesn't reach the level of the others for me. It really suffered from having fewer episodes, which I think especially affected "Magical Mystery Cure" quite badly – that's the one episode that really should have been made into a two-parter. This season also had my least favorite episode ("Apple Family Reunion", which I found rather boring).

My favorite season of MLP:FIM is Season 5, as that season had some episodes that I liked a lot (for example: "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?", "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows", and "The Cutie Remark").

My least favorite season is Season 6, it felt like the show was declining at that point and a few of its episodes ("Flutter Brutter", "The Cart Before the Ponies", and "Newbie Dash") were some of the worst of the series in my opinion.

Season 5 has consistently been my favorite across my last 3 full watches. It has multiple of my favorite episodes, and almost all of the episodes are at least very enjoyable. Funnily enough, it also has my least favorite episode of the series!

Season 8, on the other hand, is my least favorite. I just never got on board with the school of friendship as a concept and found the Student 6 to be not very interesting, so that hurts a large portion of the episodes for me. It also has four of my least favorite episodes of the series, which is more than any other season. It still has several episodes I like and a few I love ("Sounds of Silence" must be mentioned).

Rankings:

5 (Adore)

2>1>4 (Love)

6>3>7 (Like a lot)

9 (Like)

8 (Mixed)

Season 3 would be higher based solely on the episodes individually, but the smaller episode count hurts it, both in scope and variety. Season 4 probably should be higher than 1 (and maybe 2, but I'm not sure about that), but I originally stopped watching around that time, and thus have FAR, FAR more nostalgia for those first few seasons. That nostalgia colors how I perceive many of those early episodes, and I don't mean rose-tinted glasses looking back without actually watching it. I mean upon rewatches, I enjoy them more than they merit based solely on their quality. As an example, "Look Before You Sleep" isn't a great episode in my view, but I find it an incredibly cozy episode to watch, and I always enjoy it a lot.

Season 6 is where it is, in part, because I love Starlight Glimmer. On the other hand, something that bugs me about a lot of the later season episodes is that many of them are too meta/self-referential. Also, there's a fair amount of rehashing of plotlines and regressing character growth (I'm looking at you "Non-Compete Clause" >.>). I don't have a problem with most of the overarching season 9 plotline, so that's one of the reasons why season 9 manages to be better for me than season 8 (along with slightly better episodes on average and a finale that gives me closure).

All told, I love about 1/3 of the episodes, like without reservation about 3/4 of the episodes, and enjoy in some capacity all but about 15 episodes. FIM would be my desert island show for sure.

The best to me are Seasons 4 and 5, those seasons are peak Friendship is Magic to me, the part of the show that feels the most ambitious with how it develops the world and the characters. My least favorite season that precedes what many call the "downhill point" is Season 1, since it's the least remarkable season to me with how much has yet to be developed. Least favorite season after what many call the "downhill point" is Season 8. I've never found the Student 6 or the School of Friendship to be as bad as so many fans say...but I definitely understand why many feel this is where the show was taking a wrong turn. Even I felt this is where things were getting somewhat stale, development of the main characters felt the most stagnant in this season. I also realize now how dumb that was for Chrysalis to just do nothing for the rest of the season after her plan failed in the midseason finale.
