Sorry, I don't fully understand the question?

What is the earliest generation of the franchise you are a fan of (it doesn't always have to be the one you started with), and which is the latest generation you are a fan of?

I picked "G3 - G4.5" because I'm not at all a big fan of G1, G2 or G5.

I always considered myself more of a FiM fan than an outright MLP fan. While G1-G3 have their fans, they simply weren't for me(though I've grown out of the "trashing everything that isn't G4" phase everyone was going for back then). Even G5 hasn't been able to capture my interest despite really enjoying the movie.

That said, even G4 I'm pretty selective about at least in regards to the main series, though I have no issues considering Pony Life as my personal end, as that series recaptured a lot of the "magic" and simplicity I felt was missing during the later seasons of the main shows' run. As far as the main shows go, I consider The Movie the end of the show for me

I'm going to put down 1-4 as a newfound fan of G1, It's starting to really grow on me, and without a doubt I am a fan of G4 but I haven't been compelled to watch any of the 4.5 shorts or any of G5, the movie was good but I'll need more time before I can sit down and give G5 a  proper go, I also have seen nothing of G3/3.5 at this stage so I am yet to see If I will enjoy any of it.

I remember playing a pony game in my youth which I believe was a G2 game My Little Pony: Friendship Gardens and I look at that fairly fondly so I'm gonna give G2 a thumbs up as well haha :ButtercupLaugh:

Similar to Megas here, for me it starts with G4 and ends with G4.5, I used to consider myself a fan of the franchise, but now I really think I'm just a fan of the G4 related stuff, FiM, the comics, the 2017 Movie, Equestria Girls and Pony Life. I never had and still have no interest in touching G3 and G3.5, something tells me that it's just not my thing. The G1 movie entertained me in multiple parts, but the tv show felt very empty and monotonous for me. G5 for me was great when I was watching it the movie and MyM for the first time due to hype, after the Opaline arc ended for me everything went downhill, Tell your Tale wasn't good for me, and A New Generation and MyM for me weren't so awesome when I revisited them, I still think they have good things, but aside from the mysteries and Opaline, the rest just can't compare to G4 in my opinion, and I also think that it has some of the emptiness problem from G1, but unlike G1 I can still say that I at least get some fun watching it, can't say the same for TyT though.

G4.5 despite being shorter, simpler, sillier and having no complex story development, it just somehow gives me the vibe of G4, I don't know if it's because the characters are the "same", but when I watch it I realy feel that I'm watching a simplified version of the random FiM episodes, the plots are so stupid but I enjoy so much watching them and the fact that they still try to teach friendship lessons just give me extra FiM vibes that I somehow don't feel in G5 despite MyM and TyT also having them, and the shorter episode format worked for me, while I think in Tell your Tale it was just bad.

G5 just feels too different from G4 in my opinion, and that is fine, it doesn't need to be like G4, but that's definitely one of the reasons I prefer Pony life, the MLP I like is G4, G5 for me just doesn't feel like G4 but G4.5 does ~☆

There are only two possible options for me

  • G4 only
  • G4 to G5

G4 had a huge huge impact on me. G5 didn't. I like the G5 movie, but the shows never really took off for me. But I've watched bigger parts of them. and then G4 and G5 are connected in universe ... so I think to reply with G4 to G5.

G3-G4.5. I remember seeing the G3 toy commercials when I was little, I also watched a few of the G3 cartoons out of curiosity when I first became a Brony. G4 was the peak of the franchise, though it did have its declining point (which was Season 6 for me). I was skeptical about Pony Life (G4.5), until I watched some episodes and found myself liking it. The G5 cartoons aren't that interesting to me, mainly because of how rushed its development was and the fact that it's connected to G4.

I technically started with G3 since my older sister had a lot of the toys and my grandma had a few G3 books, but I was a bit too young to really remember it well. G4 seems more like my actual starting point since when it started airing I watched it on my own volition and not just because I was a squishy-brained toddler who would watch whatever my mom or sister put on. A bit later I revisited more of the earlier gens and revisited G3, all of which I loved, and started collecting a few G1 toys.

As for G4.5-G5, I don't dislike them or anything, but I didn't really take to them as much and didn't keep up with either of them at all. I think I'll pay attention to any future MLP projects, but I don't have a ton of interest in watching more of G4.5 or G5.

G4 is what got me into the franchise, because of that I not only purchased some official content from Hasbro, not just episodes of the show but also licensed shirts and posters, I recommend other people who are fans of it do the same if they can afford to, Hasbro and people who worked on the show earned our support, for the positivity they promoted in their show, and of course, being so inclusive to their fandom including Bronies and Pegasisters. While I've never been to a Bronycon myself, adults who were openly fans of the show despite the criticism they may receive, were brave to do so, and it isn't fair to be bullied for liking My Little Pony or any show like it. I do hope MLP FIM ends up with a bluray complete series release though, even if they charged 120$ for it, worth every penny.
