general What's the forum like ten years ago?

2014 is the year that i considered as the best year of mlp and it's fans community. But i joined the fan club in 2016 and discover all these amazing websites in 2024. So could some pony tell me about the glory days of forum?

I wasn't there on this forum, but I've been in this crazy pony fandom in early 2012 around when Friend Indeed came out. the first forum I joined was a very sweet forum in the UK. So sweet that you couldn't even say "damn" without being nipped by the mods   This place was a bit more wild. But still very pony.

Very similar to the original design I had in mind for my avatar, but alas I'm not good a drawing so when I made it on a Pony Maker program it came out different!

 

Anyway, great episode! It was nice to see some more background info on the Wonderbolts!

I think this episode supports my theory that Equestria is loosely based on Europe. Canterlot seems akin to England since the fancy ponies have British accents.

 

The song was pretty good in my opinion not as good as the Pet Song which seems like it's going to win best song of Season 2 if somepony doesn't stand up. (Hoping for a grand music number similar to Winter Wrap up).

 

The only issue I had for this episode was it may have been a bit too soon for another Rarity episode, though I only count Sisterhooves as half-Rarity since it is technically more of a Sweetie Bell episode.

There were a few things wrong with this situation that prevented me from asking her out:

 

1) I was at work. Fraternization with customers is a no-no. (Or most likely is, at the very least, don't think they covered that in the orientation but I know the rules about personal space in the work place)

 

2) She was with an older woman, likely her mother. Flirting with a girl with her mother around is only going to end badly.

4) I have a weird shape to my body since I'm overweight, girls like that are usually taken or won't be interested one bit in a guy that looks like me.

 

Now, I'm not the "omg I must have a girlfriend/soulmate and if I don't I'm lonely and depressed" type of person, I could probably be alone my entire life and I'd be okay with that even though being with someone would likely be better, but this was an opportunity that had "score" written all over it.

 

Also, I don't believe this situation was 100% certain to be a fairy tale ending just because she may have liked MLP but it would have been a start.

It was relatively big. I think that the peak amount of people we had at one time on the site was about 250 some, and it was a bunch of fun trying to challenge myself to overtake the forum games section. 
Definitely a bit more quiet now since a lot of people don't relate to G5 as much as FiM, but looking around for new fan stuff on YouTube while scrolling up and down the forums to see which game to infiltrate and boop around was a great time. A lot have appeared and dispersed over and over again, but what's seen as the "glory days" can still change. Just depends on how you look at it. If people find a way to either rekindle their connection with MLP in general or gather another lightning in a bottle moment like G4 was, then I guarantee that there's much more fun to have about in the community. 
I'm just curious on how the fandom vacuum is going. 10 years ago we were talking about FiM, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Uncle Grandpa, even Phineas and Ferb was on it's final episodes. Perhaps someday another lightning in a bottle moment can happen to MLP, but for now it's much smaller in scale compared to the other ones out there. 

Nonetheless, it still is a bit active here and I remind myself to pop in from time to time to see how everyone's doing.

There was more activity for sure. More room for show discussion, pages and pages of debate on how characters would act in a certain situation, or why they had, and follow ups to those from newer episodes.

I remember it being considered lucky if your new topic was showing on the front page for more than a few hours, and with so many younger users across the world, you could time visibility by posting just before schools got out in different timezones.

There was also a section on your profile that graphed the number of posts and brohooves you had done in a day I think? Kind of fun to see, but I treated it like a game where I needed to post more and more to get the graph higher, and it just wasn't healthy.

Plenty if chaos, but also a lot of organization at a lower level for role plays and such.
