How active are the forums nowadays?

It's pretty much active. It just has it's own rhythm. Some days it seems that nothing is happening (usually it's midweek) but other days (usually holidays) it's full of crazy kerfuffle (with double F for the "FUFF").

pretty active, just not public. A lot of OGs have chosen to go more in the background after making fond memories and tight friendships.

Sometimes they feel it is better that way when so many new faces come in and it just feels like repeat once more. So I keep in touch with many people behind the scenes even if up front it seems they have not logged on in over a decade. :coco:

The fandom is far from gone.

What ever happened?

Back in 2014 was when MLP fandom was at its craziest. I think 2015 it influxes at a peek and then slowly danced down into a soft crescendo after g4 series came to an end. :)

So after the ponymania things became more chill and only those who did not just treat it like a fad or passing phase decided to just chill and stick around either for friends, the community, etc.

Fun fact, can you believe MLPF was born because around 2011 other pony places had decided the fandom was “over” and moved on to other topics? Little did anyone know it would completely blow up a few years later to come.   :P

But yeah.. I remember back when the site was so insanely bouncy that it was actually scary and overwhelming to meet new people. @.@

In a way, it is a little bit better now. Back then, you would get a bunch of messages from random people simply because you posted something on a thread and mod reports were like 99+ off the chart ^_^ day and night shifts for the poor mods while we all hid away on Skype. Hah!

Things are a little more niche now and meaningful.

Oh how I remember those mod reports piling up. Sometimes we would just set aside a day to tackle overdue reports.

Then there were admin tickets, which ranged from trivial assistance to major cases. I hope those have become substantially less dramatic in recent times.

As one of the forums ancient lurkers, I can say it's still very much active. The worst it's ever been I think was maybe a 4 day period where there were no new topics and minimal posting. I'd say there's at least 5 new new topics with around five posts each daily on average. When you factor in ongoing discussions and friends responding to blogs I think that multiplies by 4 to 6 times.

I remember when there would be 20-30 new topics a day, but a big part of that comes from there not being as much to talk about with Friendship is Magic being over, and people moving on as a result. New members still join who are new to the show despite its age, which just goes to show the appeal it still has. Whether they stick around is a whole other matter.

We are but a cozy corner that can be seen at warp speed along the hyperspace lanes near the entrance of the wider fandoms community.

Not a member there, but Tumblr seems to be pretty consistent. Maybe even having an uptick right now with the popularity of text readings on YouTube shorts.

is it a horse noise?

or is it psithurism?

no, it is Tree Song :)

which is @Silly Druid's OC! (seen here next to Tree Beard* (not his real name)

Naiya_test.webp.4d3cfeafb88c53ab55ee5b19a040c6aa.webp

anyway, like the question of whether a tree falls in a distant forest and no one is there to hear it, if a person asks this question and no one replies, then they would have their answer :P

also why is my post 90% about trees?

I drop by every couple weeks, or sometimes more than that. There are actually a lot of ponies who have been regulars for years that are still here and very actively so. Compared to when I first signed on here (in 2016) I wouldn’t say we’ve suffered any severe drop-off. It’s still a healthy active forum.
