So I just told my brother that I like MLP.....

The main issue was that he's the type to judge me for it. I ended up telling him because, well, I didn't really have a choice. If there's one thing I learned from Applejack, it's that I should be honest with my family. So, after 6 months of being a ridiculously-addicted MLP fan, I built up the courage and told him.

His reaction was, and I quote, "I don't know whether to laugh or be shocked." I guess that's understandable from his perspective, but it an.........interesting interaction. Personally, my heart was thumping the entire time and, internally, I was twilighting.

Previously, whenever I told someone about my interest in MLP, the way I eased the personal pressure was by telling someone. So, since I'm freaking out right now..........I'm telling everyone here :D

Something I'm curious about, why is he shocked? Sure you've kept this hidden, but do you not openly express joy for anything similar, such as cartoons in general, or other forms of media with world building?

I myself was lucky to have family that was accepting or apathetic for the most part. They either understood it or thought, "Ah, the weird one has found something weird again", and moved on with their lives. The only two people I've gotten anything about it for in the mildest sense would be my younger brother who was into Sonic, so I could counter him there, (Not that there's anything wrong with that) and my girlfriend who is into Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and my goodness the art style is similar on that one! :ButtercupLaugh:

Anyways, congratulations on your journey of self expression within this fandom and beyond. Take pride, both for being part of a greater community, but more importantly for being true to yourself. Never shy away from who are. As with all good things, enjoy in moderation, and we wish you the best.

Not really :D. The only interests he knew that I had before were video games and basketball, so to him, I was just a normal young adult male with normal young-adult-male interests.

Yeah uhh.......it wasn't that easy for me haha

My family's first reaction was that I'm gay, and it took a bit of getting used to. But eventually, everyone accepted the fact that I'm addicted to TV show because it has an insane amount of character development and lore considering it's meant for little girls.

I cannot speak about it from your perspective because I don't know all the details, however it appears your family in time did become accepting of you and your love for MLP which is cool.

My family know I like My Little Pony Friendship is Magic

I was a little afraid at first, but when I started purchasing DVD's of the show and now I have all of the seasons, after they came through, they found out anyway, and no negativity came from it. So I don't even try to hide it from them anymore, although I am still not confident enough in it to be wearing my MLP shirts outside. If I were to wear one, I'd do it under a jacket.

I'm obsessed with the franchise as well, I like how cute Equestria is, how funny characters can be, like when Pinkie Pie released her rage because Applejack broke a pinkie promise in The Last Roundup.

I wished I could be a Pony in the fictional realm Equestria from MLP FIM but in a different timeline of their past where events played out almost the same as well, because I genuinely believe if that were to be the case, I'd be in a more peaceful world with less conflict. And no, I don't regret that or cringe at such wishes because there is nothing to feel bad about, I'm not evil for doing it, nobody would be evil for wishing such a thing if it was for an innocent reason like wanting to be a good influence and friend there, and I've even had a couple of friends tell me that wish is cute, especially since I'd desire to be a kind soul there too, not just take advantage of others, that is why my fanfic involves a fantasy about my OC reincarnating there, so that my OCs new upbringing could ensure my imaginary self was never a threat to them or their world. I would desire that, carrying no negativity toward them whatsoever, they would be in control of the nurturing aspect, not me.

Why would I want them to be in control of that? because of a thing called innocence, that is why.
