Option to pick to keep rank you've already earned?

There are some really cool ranks I've noticed like 'Dragon' or 'Evil Changeling' and I feel like when I have earned a rank I like, I'd feel like I'm getting a downgrade for overcoming it if I don't like the rank that comes after as much. Would it be a more rewarding experience for people to get a list of ranks they've earned and pick which one they wish to display on their profile? That way it still incentivises engagement if you have to earn them but you won't be 'punished' for posting if you go up a rank and don't like it. It'd also make profiles feel more customisable so the way I see it everyone would win?

(I know forums have their limitations sometimes so idk how feasible this suggestion would be in reality even if people do like it, so my bad if it's hard/impossible to implement.)

I think the same, but I'm still too far away from the kirin rank.:mlp_laugh: I don't know that either, wether it is easy, difficult, or just impossible to change that feature of the forum.

I share your view. :darling:

Hah I've had this exact thought recently as well the other night, was thinking "If I were the Evil Changeling rank and about to become the Reformed one I'd have to stop posting." tPRKWbI.png

That is the top requested feature for yeeeears. :P

That is to say, I think we all can agree it would be nice to have it, and staff wanted it too. However, it cannot be achieved with how that feature was designed by default in this software. It was designed to represent the typical posting titles like "newbie", "rookie", "explorer", "contributor", "community regular", "veteran", "grand master" etc. in a linear way, or like some sites do - levels, where everyone starts at level 1 and go up the more they post. It's generally something to reward activity, and make long-time users stand out. The developers didn't expect anyone wanting to degrade their title.

MLPF uses that feature in a more unconventional way, so such modifications would have to be programmed, which perhaps could be tricky, but not impossible. I've been planning to look around and see if I can make it a thing, in general I wanted to work on various improvements, but currently I'm still racing against time in life, so never really got into it. :raritydespair:

If I get the chance, I'd love to explore the software and see what cool things could be done.
