How do I convert somepony?

You shouldn't try to convert them, especially when IT could damage your relationship with your friends/ teachers. Seriously, it's better of to live with the secret that you are a brony. You shouldn't, because if you do, and if they will react to it in the bad way, they will surely (as you said yourself) bully you, cyber terrorise you, ignore. Believe me, I almost made a mistake myself. I kind of mentioned the thing about MLP and bronies and they reacted to it like "lol, they are just some idiots who over reacted to a little girls show. It's a good thing you aren't one of them, because if you would, we would immediately stop all relationships with you...". So I had to lie and say that I hated them too. So yeah, It's up to you actually. I'm just saying you shouldn't, because you may need them in the future, and they MAY not help you because they hate bronies aka you being a brony.

That's only for you.

I've told all my friends and I haven't been made fun of a single time.

Actually they think it's cool I watch it so yeah, them guys obiviously aren't you're friends/

On skype I indirectly tried to get a friend to watch it, and he just said "lol" so I don't think he took it seriously. I also tried to bring my brother to the herd. I talk about MLP sometimes, but once he got pissed and said "I always watch Big Bang Theory, but do I keep on telling you about it?" So I don't have a shot with my brother. I already know that MLP is popular in my school (There was actually an article on MLP in our school magazine), but I only know one other guy who is also a brony. So far I tried converting 3 of my friends (actually one of them said that my pony skype image was retarded, so thats a no), and the other two attempts weren't successful as well. For now, the only place I could openly ponytalk is on the internet

-"My little pony, not yours!"

death treats

Delicious.

Make a situation where your friends bring it up, and when they ask, just say "Yeah, I do." If they're curious enough to ask, they'll probably check out the show on their own, and make their own decision.

Also, what's with people saying friends aren't friends if they make fun of the things you do? My friends wouldn't be half as fun as they are if they didn't give me shit about stuff, and vice versa.

When people ask why I'm a brony, I really don't low. I mean yeah the characters are well rounded, e show fleshes out nicely, it I still don't know why it's so entertaining. After that speech they usually check out the show :D

Well, there is a difference between good-natured shit giving and malicious harassment, you've got to admit.

I've got a few friends who joke about the whole pony thing and for the most part we all get a few laughs out of it while I play right along with it. ;)

Weed, my friend, is how you do it.

I made my roommate, a tough dude from the Bronx, watch it in return for $$$ for weed, and well... it may be working, hehehehehe!

His face grimaces and shouts "I rather stab myself in the eyeballs than watch more f***in candy-colored ponies!" But still watching it, for all the weed in the world.

Hell, i think he's a closet brony. Maybe, who knows.

All of this talk about being bullied or possible bullying bc of pony love is making me kind of scared. In a way I'm glad that I'm an 80's female, "interested in art" person. It eliminates a lot of the bullying fuel. But it makes it so it's harder to understand what the younger gen is going through. I guess I never really had a desire to talk about my tv shows during HS bc I'm an introvert that eschews much jabber and because most of the people I went to school with were, to put it nicely "small minded and conventional" so I didn't think they'd care about the things I liked. They would also pretend to be interested and then turn around and make fun of me behind my back with people I didn't trust. And the next thing I'd know people would be teasing me for stuff.

I'd follow your gut and don't rush things. If you can gauge a person to be understanding, open minded and tolerant of many different kinds of people, maybe they'd be interested in pony talk with you. Even if they don't turn out to be a brony, they could be cool anyway and plus know other people who could turn out to be or already be bronies. If they tend to tease people or make fun of people behind their back, I'd forget about it. Yeah, they could be cool with ponies but they could also not and turn you into a bullying target. Is there anyone you could practice on? Like someone not in your school (cousin, neighbor, child you watch etc), so if all failed you wouldn't be miserable?

I'd show them the ads for the show, like the Equestria Girls video or the Bridlemaids banner, at least to hint to them that it's not just a little girl thing. They're kind of funny.

  • 2 years later...

I suggest showing them some episodes and if they don't like it, that's their problem.

- "Um... I was just wondering if it's okay if I hold you down against your will for a little bit?"

What ever you do, don't try to force it onto them. I really don't like bronies who do that as it makes them seem irritating and obsessive.

If they complain just tell them why you like the show and suggest they try out a few episodes to actually form an opinion on the show. If they still have a problem with it then they're not worth having as friends.
