I donate regularly anyways. If it was something we were forced to see at all times, then someone probably would have spoken up. I'd much rather have people let me know why they don't want to opt into ads any longer than simply doing so. I'm completely open to feedback, and silently disabling ads isn't giving me any. In this case, there was a good reason to not want to see them anymore (ie. twice as many of them as there should be), and I would've fixed the glitch immediately if even one person started a feedback topic or PM'd me about it. I imagine the "Register now to remove this ad!" links when you were already logged in must have tipped off someone. If it is by click, if the add is clicked, it sends the owner of the website an amount determined mostly by the traffic of the site. If it is pay per view, every time the add is shown, it sends money to the site. So, click on adds and it sends a few cents to Feld0's account. EDIT: AHA! I FOUND THE OPT IN! I reward any site that makes ads voluntary by donating more than my seeing or clicking ads would ever bring in! Besides, I feel like communities are much more like a family if the members support it directly! Other than that, I just think the aesthetics of ads ruin the look of a website. I tried opting into the ads, but even discreetly placed ads make me squirm. Arylett Charnoa 4,919 July 19, 2012 Share July 19, 2012 Ads annoy me. So, I opt out ads. Don't get me wrong, I would like to support the site, I love it! But, I just REALLY hate ads. And this is me. I really hate ads. I mean, I can ignore them, but if I can help it, I'd much rather they not be there at all. I like a nice clean layout. At first, I was opted out because I used to use Opera, which did not allow the ads to be visible. When I switched to Chrome, I tried to turn them on, but... I just didn't like it. Had grown too used to not having them around. I respect that they're optional, and that this site doesn't shove them in your face. I think a site without ads looks much more professional even if it's not always feasible. Though because I'm a horrible person LEECHING OFF OF FELD0'S MONEY, I don't donate either. I have absolutely no money. Whenever I open up commissions or actually get a source of income though, I plan on donating to make up for the fact that I don't opt in. Since I can't donate for the moment though, I guess the best way I can make up for it is donating my time as a staff member and helping the site stay clean. Sadly they often show me something I was looking for after I've already found it -_- I'm very thankful that they're only at the top and bottom of the page and not at all intrusive (as in they don't flash a bazillion colors or yell at me and I have to try and find out what I'm hearing, or those that fly out into the middle of the page and zoom around and you have to hunt for the X button ). ~L.F.E.~ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
