Sadly, I don't think I'd participate again

I'm kind of disappointed by the turn-out.

I spent over ten hours on my six art pieces (design and all included) and it's gotten little to no recognition :/

I'm actually surprised you were creative enough to think of this .

Organize it all out,

and put it together.

And it really did turn out great.

What? Why the sudden negativity? Nobody here sees it as crashed, just some people were voicing their opinions about the fact that our community just creates a lot of awesome art and that we all want to vote for ALL the works I certainly don't see that as "Crashed" nor "Burned". In my books it goes by "Success".

It's just...(I don't know how to explain this) I like to say I can feel what the other artists are feeling....

...and truthfully...If I were any of the artists here who came back and saw my work hadn't garnered any favor... I'd be feeling really un-inspired to perform again...I can actually feel someone even heartbroken by this...

I'm really glad you put this all together, and would like to see a second one come around, but could we leave the whole voting bit out perhaps?

I really appreciate you though for putting something like this all together! It was a great idea really and I'm thinking maybe we can all chime in to possibly advertise the second round. Please don't give up because of the few drawbacks we had on this one. It doesn't have to end here.

There is nothing wrong with healthy competition

but adding names can make it a popularity contest too however if it's just about the work it's fine.

looks awesome guys/girls! It took quite some time to get from start to end but it was well worth it. =) Maybe next time i'm joining in as well, who knows. xP

We exchanged favourite ponies (I said Rarity, they said RainbowDash) I said I was doing the mane 6, they said fine.

Well yeah I see your point. But honestly this event was about community and giving/receiving a gift from a fellow member, not for showcasing your work and gaining recognition. If I didn't completely spell out the intentions of this event in the sign-up topic then I apologize.

If an artist HAD to feel discouraged to continue just because his works don't get much attention... I would've quit writing and drawing years ago. And a million times over.

Because, you know, my DA submissions don't even get comments. When they do, it's some stupid old "friend" who asks me why I use this or that kind of paper, and doesn't even bother saying a thing about the actual art.

 

And the Ask thread I made, which I CLEARLY stated was for PRACTICING and not fun? It got replies from three people.

THREE.

While other ask threads were being posted in by, I don't know, half a dozen members making 2-6 replies every day.

Actually...it was I... (I guess you could call it complaining) who may have most likely caused the closer of the polls. Therefore it's my fault and I accept any and all ridicule that follows after. However, I assure you, it wasn't about the attention I was getting, It was for every other participant.

All I can do is apologize now, but even though TTC and I were first place (Mainly due to TTC because of his awesome work!) , I couldn't sit comfortably knowing that artists around me where beginning to feel discouraged and uninspired. I'm sorry.

I'm sure TTC will still be happy to know his work garnered first place.

As a general rule of being human it is offensive to say you would not like someone's art for a gift. I'm really not offended you don't like my drawing (because it was meant to be funny and a little strange) but more so that you had the audacity to say that. This art exchange was created so members of the community could give gifts of art to each other no matter their skill set or style. It's very discouraging for anyone to say they don't like something.

 

If you really want to go through the PMs you'd see that you said Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie and then "but it's your art piece, so just do what you can do best (: ~" I said Derpy, not Rainbow Dash. You never told me what you were drawing and I never agreed to it (although I do really like what you did anyways). You seemed like you didn't care at all so I didn't bother telling you what I wanted and pretended I was okay with it. It was my impression that we would say exactly (or at least give a general idea of) what we wanted from our exchange partner in the PMs, but we didn't do that because I felt unwelcome to do so and you told me to do what I want. I don't know why you are disappointed.

I don't see why everybody is getting upset about people not seeing your art. This was an art trading project. You made something for your partner, and that should make you happy. So what if nobody voted or noticed this that much? Just give Doctor XFizzle some slack, he wanted to have some fun with this awesome art exchange project. Doctor, don't worry about all the complaints from the other members; I certainly had fun doing this, and I would like to do it again sometime. (: It's too bad the poll went down, it looked like Tag Team Cast was in the lead.

To the other artists who participated in this: I don't want you to be mad at me, I just wanted to show that numbers don't matter, and exchanging art with your partners is alot of fun. <3

And Shankveld, we're both replying to what we think you're saying. If you feel it's "not making any connections in our brains", then why not explain? 0.o

 

I'm not "butthurt" because a) I didn't even write a fanfic, it was a poem, and even I admitted it was long myself; b-) that "TL;DR" attitude is present EVERYWHERE, not just with you or anyone else on the forums.

I understand that you're not actually insulting your partner, you even made it clear that you meant no offense. That's why I removed that part from my earlier post you quoted, alongside other portions.

I'm simply puzzled that you saw this as a showcase or contest sort of thing, that you and Dizzy would think anyone would feel discouraged.

 

Yes, the other thread's OP did say our works would be subject of voting at the end of this. But that one petty detail should NOT make anyone forget the main objective - an exchange, hence the pairings and PMs.

I, for one, made my poem for Crank and the sketch for CL13. And you have no idea how many other works I've sent as gifts via PM, instead of making threads about them.

Bottom line, I'm not expecting anyone to even bother seeing my stuff. -_- Let alone comment or rate.

 

Furthermore, not everyone has the time to look at all the works, as your approach towards the writings demonstrates. Just because one entry didn't get as many votes as others doesn't mean it's less liked, simply that the people who would've liked it didn't have time to have a look AND decide to vote on it.

Next time you think someone's not getting the recognition they deserve, ask yourself this: do the votes really represent the community's overall opinion? Oh, and of course, stop thinking you understand how someone feels just because it vaguely sounds like something you've heard before.

I will like to say I did have alot of fun interacting with TTC and exchanging art with him.

 

Just ask him how anxious I was getting to reveal my art for him All I was (not really complaining) expressing was my heartfelt concern for the other members here(however arrogant it may have seemed). No one said the polls had to go down in this thread.

 

Can we not bring it (The poll) back?
