Yeah, you would think it would take more than an energy beam to take out Equestria's most powerful (known) pony. I was hoping for better.

 

It was a beam composed of Shining Armor's love, remember? That made Chrysalis's power level OVER 9000!

Well, naturally it is more interesting to see Crysalis win, but the battle that lead up to her victory was just very "meh" to me.

 

Imagine this: Celestia and Crysalis run, jump and fly across the room shooting lasers at each other. The spectators quiver in fear and run away. Celestia casts a powerful spell which Crysalis barely manages to avoid, after which the final beam struggle happens, which Crysalis wins.

 

It's a very basic idea, but it makes the battle that little bit more impressive, and therefore makes Crysalis' victory more satisfying while not making Celestia look like a complete pushover.

Yeah, it'd have been nice to see an extended fight. Something at least as long as Fluttershy's encounter with the bear.
