  1. My personal interpretation was that it was. It's not just poor word choices: it's very specific ones, such as Fluttershy wanting her dress in the style of French Couture in Suited For Success.
  2. It's never specifically stated in the show whether Equestria is in an alternate version of our world. What is the canon explanation for it?
  3. While I think Discord was the best villain, Nightmare Moon was my favorite because of the episode she was in. She was the one who brought the mane six together.
  4. I think Rarity's funniest moment is in Lesson Zero when she faints, but not before bringing her mattress to the picnic to faint on. "What, you didn't think I was going to fall in the dirt, did you?"
  5. I didn't see anyone else mention this yet. Surprising, actually. It's at the end of Green Isn't Your Color, when Rarity and Fluttershy confess their feelings toward Fluttershy's career, and then reconcile.
  6. Well, "funniest" has been done already. Pinkie does usually win those. If I put her in the poll, everyone would probably just vote for their favorite. Guess I'll edit her in anyway.
  7. Funniest for me is Pinkie Pie, of course. Second funniest is between Rarity and Fluttershy. Rarity has the tendency to overdramatize things, while Fluttershy's nervousness often puts her in funny situations.
  8. Well, the alternative was just putting the glass slipper back on, or picking it up... Then again, it is just like Rarity to take the more dramatic solution.
  9. I agree with the topic creator that there are flaws. Sometimes, they're plotholes, sometimes they're inconsistency, and sometimes they're story lines that don't have the effect the writers think they do. It's good that there are whistleblowers to point out such things. However, if you use such scrutiny for any show ever made, and even movies, you're going to find similar flaws. Take other shows that were similarly popular in their time, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Arthur, and Pokemon season 1, you'll find similar errors. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has characters with such static, stagnant personalities, that you'll find it hard to believe that they're as competent as they are when it comes to martial arts. In Pokemon, other than Ash being naive, Brock being a playboy, and Misty being naggy, their personalities change whenever it's convenient for the plot. Neither of those shows have aged well in my honest opinion, despite me being more addicted to them back in the day than I ever was to Friendship is Magic. (If you want to see a children's show similar to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic that HAS aged well, check out The Busy World of Richard Scarry.) The draw we have to Friendship is Magic, however, isn't that it's perfect. It's that it's still a notch above the majority of cartoons out there. It really does pull off characterization better than almost anything I've ever seen from that age group, from any generation. Subtle things such as facial expressions in critical plot moments reinforce this. While it does have issues that the topic creator pointed out, those aren't things that similar shows lack.
  10. Erm, you're asking us what we would think about a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic movie that wasn't animated by Hasbro, voiced by Hollywood actors instead of animation voice actors, and created with CG instead of 2D animation?
  11. Sounds like you're overhyping it. Of course, if everyone tells you it's epic, and then you create unrealistic expectations inside your head, you'll feel like leaving when it doesn't live up to that.
  12. I wish people wouldn't use the word "hate". "Hate" is a strong word. Most people don't really "hate" the characters from this show. Also, I hate strong words...
  13. I thought that this was explained in that episode. Didn't Twilight say that unicorn foals can exhibit bursts of magic at that age?
  14. Well, given the show we're talking about, "defeating evil with love" isn't really all that cheesy IMO, is it? It's a cliche more than cheesiness, I'd assume. Cheesy isn't a bad thing though, if the fact that something is cheesy doesn't bother you. This is coming from someone who loves and grew up with the plot of Star Fox 64
  15. Your avatar sums up my reaction to your post pretty well. I think you're overthinking it. Plus, the "action filled" part can be viewed as cheesy, depending on whom you ask.
  16. Probably because of their migration towards simpler looking products. Plus, rainbow colored items have caused insecurity for a particular reason over the years.
  17. I would've appreciated the fact that Applejack hadn't been upstaged in "The Last Roundup" (OMG, they axed Derpy? Worst episode evar!!!!"
  18. Meh, Princess Luna comes and goes as well. She's rarely seen, even in episodes that take place entirely in Canterlot. Hasbro just likes to pretend characters don't exist, sometimes. We've had an episode about Owlowiscious and Tank, and one that highly featured Gummy. We still need episodes about Winona, Angel, and Opalescence.
  19. I can only name my top 3: Green Isn't Your Color, Over a Barrel, and The Last Roundup. All amazing episodes. This is the first "favorite episode" thread I've actually seen people mention Green Isn't Your Color.
  20. Well, Princess Luna is actually having trouble fitting in with the contemporary way of life. She was a graceful villain, yet a clumsy princess, so she technically is more suited to be a villain until she fully fits in. Not that I want her to return to being a villain!
  21. My three favorites are Meghan McCarthy, Amy Keating Rogers, and Dave Polsky. Meghan McCarthy has the highest quality:quantity ratio, that's for sure. She's written 9 episodes, and about all of them have been winners. It's more difficult to pick out an episode of hers I don't like than one I like, to be honest. Green Isn't Your Color is one of my top 3 episodes, of course. Amy Keating Rogers has written fewer episodes, and about half of them have been of stellar quality. Her episodes that are below stellar are still pretty decent, however. Her quality goes on a scale of The Cutie Pox to The Last Roundup, with The Cutie Pox being a "meh" episode. Of course, The Last Roundup is another of my top 3. David Polsky has done great work for the show, despite having only written two episodes. While Feeling Pinkie Keen is an above average episode, Over A Barrel is spectacular. It contains two of the best jokes in the whole show, has a great lesson, and perfect characterization. I'm really glad Polsky is returning for Season 3.
  22. Princess Luna has the most personality out of all of the princesses. Other than being calm all the time, Celestia isn't a very interesting character. Poll is missing Blueblood by the way.
  23. No, they should not stop trying. Even if it won't make their cutie marks appear any faster, it's making their friendship grow. Their little group is not unlike the Mane Six's group.
  24. The thing is, she even has the same eye color. The fact that she also wears a cap doesn't help very much, or the fact that she is selling stuff at a booth...
  25. As much as I like their internet humor, it really is infuriating when they ruin stuff for everyone._
