Do you agree with the change of Derpy(that was changed to Ditsy) in the show?

I am a brony. And I really loved the character named "Derpy" and not the one named "Ditsy".

So I wanted to know what are your opinions.

I think Derpy should have been kept up on the show. The meaning of friendship is to accept a friend, no matter what are the diferences! My favourite character was Derpy, ever since I saw her D:

Ditzy and Derpy are the one and the same. Just think of the times when Derpy's eyes aren't derped and think of her as Ditzy.

 

She still is in the show in the background being her lovable self quite often. She just doesn't have any lines, like normal.

 

My main problem is them permanently fixing her eyes. That's her trademark. The voice change is fine since it was a mistake to begin with, they just need to make a better replacement than what they did. Give her some personality. But whatever they do to her, Ditzy "Derpy Hooves" Doo will always be my wittle muffin!

At first, I did not like the new voice or what they did, but in time I came to just accept it. Now it's not that big of deal to me anymore. Plus if u get the first dvd you can keep Derpy forever. As long as she can be a funny background charter that is fine with me.

I'm aware the writers have to do what they have to do, and that I probably shouldn't be upset, but to be honest, I am! I really hate all these soccer moms ruining such great aspects of shows. It reminds me of the time when people ha a shitfest over the Adventure Time episode "What Was Missing" because it was hinted that Marceline might've liked Princess Bubblegum as more than a friend. Like honestly? You really think that's going to tear apart your kid's childhood?

 

When I was five I would watch all sorts of movies with my dad, and one of my favorites at that age was Austin Powers. Now that movie certainly isn't for children, but shit, I came out fucking fine. It didn't scar me, or ruin my life... And that's because I didn't understand the "adult" jokes.

 

And children aren't going to really think "oh my goodness, Derpy is mentally challenged..." either. I even heard of a case where there was a brony and his sibling (who was mentally challenged) who loved Derpy! It's honestly so harmless and that's why it pisses me off. Derpy isn't supposed to be representing anything offensive. She is simply a clumsy, spacey character with a silly little look to her that makes her unique from the other ponies.

 

And yes, I don't mind Ditzy Doo, or whatever, but I am still really upset about Derpy being taken out. I swear most parents these days are ridiculous.

i rely cant go into detail with how muck i hate it when people go there, Derpy has a lazy eye so saying that she requires special need is an insult to every person who has a lazy eye i.e. me (but i've recently had surgery to correct them) if i could i would hunt people down for s t like that.

 

moving on the reason why Derpy was change was because of her name Derpy is another way of saying Retard and this is a f king kids show so i'm not happy when i see kid with lazy eyes getting called Derpy and im sure there parents don't either which p ses me of when concern parents complained and got branded as soccer moms because i complained and i'm a guy not a soccer mom.

 

and people can go "oh the meaning is different it doesn't mean that" this isn't south park you cant change the meaning of a word just like that if you could then my friend would be allowed to call bronies F:(gs with out any back lash also there gay so that get a free pass to throw the word around anyway.

 

now get it into that cranium of your as i relay this fact, MLP is for little girls first.. bronys second.

 

also since some people may get mad from what i've just said Dinky Doo and Ditsy Doo arn't related, sister hooves social and there ages make this fact cannon

I never cared in the slightest for derpy, but the first time i saw ep 14 filled me with joy seeing how much of an impact we have made on the show producers, and I was a bit disheartened to be honest to see them change her

yes i have seen Bronies react to derpy back in March/April however my use of the South Park reference is from my personal knowledge of the episode coupled with the quote i used with it.

It annoys me as well. I don't have a lazy eye or anything, but it ticks me off so much when someone decides to add a random special need or mental disability due to her eyes and original voice.

well the meaning of derp isn't set in stone there has never been a diconary definition that im aware

but it has been associated with stupidity e.g. if some one does something rely stupid it can be considered a derp moment.

Actually the eyes were a programing animation error... I read about Derpy and noticed it. I am surprised tho.

EXACTLY, EXACTLY EXACTLYYY. I thought about this too, Snails is FAR worse that Derpy ever was or would've been. His cutie mark, his voice, HIS NAME, not that I care to be honest because I know in my heart the writers weren't going for that sort of thing, and it's the SAME for Derpy!

I prefer her new voice to her old one. Originally when she was voiced the voice actor did a young boys voice unintentionally (and although it sounds good) I actually preferred the re-voice of Derpy's better because it was more girly and how I had originally imagined it

 

I do not think they should have stopped giving her a speaking role (I don't know if they where going to this season or w/e) or removed her name as for me FIM is about friendship past disabilities and differences and I think removing a character because people this she looks a bit retarded and that offends then is stupid because she was the most loves background pony (and still is ) of them all!

 

I do think she may get a speaking roll in s4 but I recon they may call her Ditzy Doo and not Derpy so they don't get a repeat of what happend.

I'm sorry if I insulted you, I didn't mean to. However, I think Derpy was more or less special than only having a lazy eye.
