Alright, this is turning a bit hostile.

I thrive best in a hostile environment.

Yeah, sometimes.  :) But I'm only mean to people I like. If I didn't like you, I'd be really nice to you.

One of my friends says that's how you tell you are friends.

No, you can't get friendly with a crocodile
Don't be taken in by his welcome grin
He's imagining how well you'd fit within his skin

I have zero tolerance for bullshit. If it seems "hostile" to point out bullshit, then so be it.

Yep. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

But Pink! A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men! Isn't that right?

Never smile at a crocodile
Never tip your hat and stop to talk awhile
Never run, walk away, say good-night, not good-day
Clear the aisle but never smile at Mister Crocodile

Assuming the person(s) responsible for that nonsense don't take it to be truth, yes.

I'm not sure how to interpret that...

It's a famous quote.

Assuming the person(s) responsible for that nonsense don't take it to be truth, yes.

People have a right to be ignorant if they so desire.

Just as I have the right to expose their ignorance and shame them for it, if I desire.

I know what it means, but I'm interpreting it two different ways.

1. Pink is your enemy

2. Pink is a friend treated like an enemy.

Not quite. I am open and truthful with my friends (most of the time), but I lie to people I don't know or don't like.

Just as I have the right to expose their ignorance and shame them for it, if I desire.

Not really... If they wish to remain ignorant, you should respect their wishes.

That makes sense.

Not sure how that quote connects though.

Nevermind

You say "not really" like I'm wrong, which I'm not. If someone's wish is to be ignorant, they deserve to have their feelings hurt, if that's what's necessary. They deserve it if they flaunt their ignorance in public, and assume they're right. Nobody should be ignorant, it's a detriment to themselves and to others. I was ignorant once, I had to become aware of my ignorance before I could change it.

I don't set out to offend people, but if someone gets offended by my argument, or disagreement, too bad.

With people I don't know or like, I tell them nice, polite lies. I tell them what they want to hear, and what I want them to hear. If they say something stupid, I nod and smile and compliment them on their intelligence. But my friends, I'll at least make an effort to tell them my true opinions, out of respect.

You're making people more ignorant by doing that. Challenging people's opinions like that in public makes them defensive, and less receptive to the truth. If you truly want to change someone's mind, you have to treat them with kindness and respect.

That's an interesting point. You may be right, but it might also vary from person to person.

It does vary, the first step is always to find out the best way of changing someone's mind.

Also remember some people are not open to any method, it's really not worth trying.

There's an old saying, so old no-one knows the origin, "A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still".

Absolutely. There are some real fanatics out there, who will defend their ignorance to the death. It's best if you don't waste your time on them.

Yes. However, they'll be much more likely to listen to you if they consider you a friend, and they most likely won't listen to you at all if they consider you an enemy.
