Immortality is Sue'ish.

It depends on the setting. In Highlander for instance, all the main characters and villeins were immortal. In any case, immortality simply means that I can't die from old age.

He's almost certainly a peerless magician and psychic, and I'd bet my last boondollar that he's protected by highly advanced and extremely deadly technology. The plan was that I'd get the Programs to kill him for me once I found the machine.
