Butajiri reveled at his sword as he continued, "The Banshee Shriek calls lost souls from the Fade. Every time it is used the Vail that separates both worlds is cut. The Vail repairs itself over time, but we should be able to make a portal to the fade that will last for days under the right circumstances."

"Hey, I just met you," she sang, "And this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me maybe." (You set that one up) "I'm not dying, I'm resting. There's a difference."One doesn't make my vision funny, with grey and white blobs.. She felt something very deep within her, something fuzzy, and her eyes glowed green. She immediately passed out, but what the other ponies saw was a green mist settle on her wounds. They heard a faint singing noise, and she stopped bleeding out. It took the rest of her strength, but it changed the sitation from dire to painful.

Nightfall stood up, putting Maven gently on the ground. He stood there for a moment, looking at her, extremely sad, then limped off towards the hospital. He suspected he would make it for long, but he had to try. She couldn't die, not when it was his fault. As he looked back, he saw the mist. He tried going faster, but he really couldn't.

When would we be able to make this happen ? Windward asked, watching Butajiri's sword. Who would be the one to controll the demons that escape, And How many demons would escape in the few days we have it open ? He asked.

Butajiri took some time to consider his question, "Well, as far as how many demons come, I cannot say. It truly depends on what part of the Fade this city is connected to. I can tell you that the demons we find will only be E and D class demons. The more powerful demons are much deeper into demon world, and never enter the Fade. However, the weaker ones will do fine for our purposes. As for their loyalty, you needn't worry. Lower class demons will obey stronger fighters like us as if we were gods. Their minds are simple that way. To answer your last question, the portal can only be made in a place where the Vail is weak. A place were much death has happened."

How about an asylum. He said taking his eye's off the sword and looking at Butajiri. Also... How do I know I can trust you ?

You cant trust him, He would kill you if he go the chance. I dont care.They thought.

Your plan sounds interesting... But where does killing the Princesses come into play ?

And yes, I want to kill them, Not so I can rule... So I can plunge all of Equestria into death and darkness... Maybe I should bring Discord back. He thought out loud.

"As strange as this sounds, the reason you can trust me is because I am a demon." Butajiri said, lowering his sword, "We are not as trivial as you ponies. I see you as a good ally, and a usefull one. I will not end such a useful alliance. As for Celestia, I see nothing more useful than an army of Demons to do such a thing, no?"

[Nightfall 3,950]

Nightfall was weary. He hadn't found much help, and the adrenaline was wearing off. He found the other pony and Maven still outside the town hall.

"I'm not sure I know your name," he said as he limped slowly up behind the other pony. "But I'll admit: now would be a fine time to have more power."

He looked like he had learned some kind of deep lesson, or was a bit ashamed.

Maven looked much better; however, she was also still very passed out.

 

Den was starring at the foal on his bed. It was his fault. His fault the foal was critical. His fault his parents were dead; that his brothers were dead. His fault, as he saw it, that this foal's life sucked. He starred for a long time, then asked softly, "Do you hate me?"

Patches couldn't say anything. He did not blame him, he blamed the doctor, but he didn't know what he could say that would be appropriate. What does one say to someone who killed your brother and sister out of mercy? "No," he said, "You had no choice. It was the doctor's fault. I never... I never thought there was really ponies like that. There are more like him, aren't there?"

"Good," Jack said as he stood up, "She is stable for now. She has an infection in her leg. It is Demonic in origin, but can be treated like any other virus. She will need a blood transfusion. Take her to a medical facility, then meet me under the mulberry tree. I will need some time to prepare."

Den nodded slowly, "Plenty. Sometimes, I really hate my job. Drink up, kid. You need to get healthy, and you've lost a lot of fluid. Have you eaten?"

 

Maven was dreaming. In her dream, her back leg was trobbing and their were five hundred voices in her head, driving her nuts.

"I'll need help getting her there. I mean.. Look at me."

Nightfall gave a slight motion to his right shoulder and his right side. Luckily, he hadn't been hurt too badly in his wing, but there was great pain in moving it. He paused, looking at Maven, and then preceded to try to get her on his back.

"No," Jack retorted, "You are taking her there yourself. I am not going to give this power to someone who's going to half-ass this. She's stable, you have all the time you need. You are taking her yourself, and I want you to do it without using wings or magic! If you cannot do that, don't bother coming to see me."

As he tried to get her comfortably on his back, he glared at the other pony. He didn't really like the way he was treating himself; as a captain of the police force, one would think to maybe at least give a little respect.

"So, what? You offer me more power because I am who I am, and then after I refuse and later come back in need of the power, I must work for it? Oh, sure, sounds completely fair."

Eventually, he succeeded and stood up, in pain, with Maven of his back. He pointed his right hoof at the pony.

"I don't know who you are or what you're trying to play at, but let me tell you this: I can manage."

He glared as he slowly started to limp towards the hospital.

"If he's complaining about this, he isn't truly ready, but what choice do any of us have?" Jack mumbled to himself. He said nothing to Nightfall and left. He had many things to do, and many things to think about, before he could worry about trivial complaints.

Windward raised his eyebrows. Ok then. How do we use your sword to open it ? Do we just keep spinning it around in circles or something ? He asked. You should kill him and take his sword. I have been thinking about it... I just don't know how I would get past that noise. I think... I think I am going to keep him. Just as long as he doesn't mess anything up... again. They thought.

One thing a little rest had given her was extra energy. She began singing an song about an exorcism and cringed; her leg hurt a lot. She kept singing.

"The Banshee Shriek is actually just a small, wooden handle called the trial sword." Butajiri explained with much pleasure, "It becomes the Banshee Shriek when I wield it and feed it my energy. All I have to do is find a place where the vail is weak and give it massive amounts of demonic power, and it can rip the vail like a hot knife through butter."

"Come on, Maven... That's it... you'll be better soon..."

Nightfall trundled on slowly, but it still didn't take him too terrible long to reach the hospital. Every nurse and doctor were working overtime, but they still knew a police officer when they saw one. And many tried to get Nightfall to stop so they could treat his rather bad injuries.

"No, I'm fine," he said through gritting teeth. He was able to set Maven down gently and start his way back to that tree. But he honestly hoped that spider would come again... he didn't exactly know the way to the tree...

Even though she could tell he was trying to set her down gently, she still had to grit her teeth to prevent herself from moaning. She stared blankly at the blobs she assumed to be doctors, when one of them hastily put her on a cart (roughly, due to his haste. She cried out, actually) and wheeled her away. She felt an IV put into her forearm(leg?), and looked over. She saw a greyish blob, and felt her costume being dragged off her slowly. She winced a little as they went over her leg, and she saw the tops of two of the blobs dip. They said something she didn't catch and all but the two blobs exited the room. Then things slid into focus. She vaguley recognized the doctors infront of her, but she DID recognize the green substance. "Woah wait! Uhn..." And she passed out.

Another red spider was waiting at the Hospital door. It made its presence known to Nightfall, and urged him to follow. He led them to the mulberry tree, not but a few minutes away. The tree seemed much larger than it was before.

 

Jack was once again underneath the tree. He had another orb in is hoof, this time it was red, and slightly smaller. He stood up. "There is one last thing you must know, and there is no way you'll get this without a visual demonstration. I want you to kick this tree."

"There. Now this demon looks smaller, ya? Easier to control, ya?"

"Look at the tree before you yammer on." Jack demanded. A small black fruit fell from the tree's branches. "This may look like a mulberry tree, but it is not." Tree slits opened on the skin of the fruit. Two of the slits opened into red eyes. The third slit opened into a ghoulish mouth. The fruit made a few moaning sounds and stuck out a black tongue, licking the grass.

Nightfall looked back and forth between the thing and the other pony. He had a perplexed, yet slightly irritated, look on his face. He was tired of waiting. He need this extra power. Now the pony was just teasing him...

 

He walked over, looked him in the eyes, and swung his left hoof at his face.

Jack dodged the assault and returned to is original position so fast that Nightfalls hoof appeared to go strait through his head. "The point that I'm getting at is that I did not plant this tree! This is called the Sinning Tree and the only place its seeds can be found is in the Fade. You seem to be a little slow, so I'll give you a hint. That means that the Vale separating this world from the demon world is already ripping, and if it breaks you will have a hell of a lot more to bitch about than some ugly fruits. So if you would kindly stop assaulting me, I think you and I would both benefit from doing something other than trying my patience."
