Den was suddenly extremely angry. Forgetting to disable the link, he thought, How dare they? Ugg, I wish I could... Woops... he thought, after punching a wall 3 times in quick succession. His mood was singing from anger to tears and he was trying to control his emotions. He noticed that the wall had a hoof mark on it and facehoof'd.

"Whatever Den, but if you won't kill me this way. Then I'll have to make you kill me!" Cherry Blossom screamed as she attempted to kill Den by strangling him, but this time, she was doing it on purpose. She gave Den an angry look and just continued to choke the life out of him.

"Well you're no fun. As for the game, it's simple." said Karasu, "There are eight of you and seven of me. That means that I can only provide seven graves and one of your bodies will stay and rot. I get to pick which one that is. The game will start when the king and rook castle. Are you following?"

Den was beginning to expect being choked. He realised that the diffrence between feral Cherry and regular Cherry was motive. One was trying to die, the other was trying to kill. He brought his hooves between hers and forced them sideways, away from his neck, brought his hooves around the back of her neck and kissed her, wrapping his wings around her a bringing her in close. What he didn't think would happen was the moment when their lips connected, and his entire being poured across the link. His happiest moments (with Cherry Blossom), and saddest moments (also with Cherry Blossom), and everything in between. (His family dying, his getting a job, having Sapphire in his body, etc.) He shivered as it went on a round-trip between them. It made him feel exposed; Cherry noe knre him better than anypony in Equestria. When he broke the kiss, he asked, "Do you see why I can't?"

Karasu's voice changed from calm, collective, and quiet to a loud and confident tone. His energy wavelength changd so drastically that it was as if he was no longer the same pony. "Give it a try." He taunted, "Nothing can beat us! especially when I, the strongest of us all, am in control!" He hopped vertically to let out some of his anticipation. "Hell of a party!"

Nightfall woke up. There was a slight drizzle, and a cold one, but the rain had stopped otherwise. He curled up closer to himself, the puddle around him sucking away at his body heat. He closed his eyes. He needed to train, to get back to Maven... He needed to move on with his life. He stood up slowly and started the trek back the Jack's hut.

Jack knew Nightfall would come back soon. He would have betted his life on it. Not that his life was worth much. He sat at the front door of his strangly large shack at the top of the hill behind his cabin and waited for Nightfall to find his way up. Secretly, he craved the company after fifty years with no social life.

He took a running position but didn't move, like they do at the start of a track race. Of course, if his little trick didn't work, he would stay inside of his and wait until the bubble popped, and rip him apart from the outside.

"But how can you kill me if you're eyes are so slow?" Karasu replied in his new voice. As soon as he finished speaking, his figure was reduced to a blurry outline and quickly dissapeared. He had not teleported, there was no flash of light. A few moments later, he spoke again. This time, he was behind Wits. somehow he had ran that far without being seen. "You must know something about my abilities." he whispered to Wits, "I know you fear what my touch can do to you. And yet, maybe you also want to know it."

(Isn't Karasu kind of... behind you? I can't just let you kill Karasu this fast anyway, but I'll let it hit.) Karasu was given enough time to cast a mundane dfnc spell, then was engulfed in the ray of light. When it cleard, he stood seemingly unharmed, save for a stream of blood running down his cheek. His mask was torn from his face and left on the street. "Hell of a party." He repeated, "I think you'll find me a tad bit tougher than the other six Karasus." He looked at the chipped mask on the ground. "Looks like poor old us lost our little mask."

Nigthfall walked up to Jack's shack. He almost stopped when he saw it. He thought about an idea. He'd tell it to Jack. He walked up to him.

"Before you insult me, would I be able to have another demon. I have what I see as a brilliant idea, and I'm not telling you what it is until you answer my question."

Nightfall shifted his hooves, trying to stay on his metaphorical toes. He mentally prepped his super-powerful version of himself. He would try to control his energy in that form, and make it last really long.

 

"It's time you learned how to use all of that spirit energy you have. Now shut up and get in my unnecessarily large shed!" Jack walked inside of the shed, leaving the door opened for Nightfall. The only light in the empty shed was a single candle light in the center.

After waiting for Nightfall to walk inside, Jack closed the door. He was paying no attention to what he Nightfall was saying, but knew that it was probably complaining. "I want you to put one hoof in front of your head and stand perfectly still." Jack instructed.

"Hoof it, tell me what we're doing! I'm not doing anything until I know what this is for! Besides, you don't want me to get pissed... Not right now."

Nightfall's inner powerful-self was ready.

"Honestly, if he doesn't tell me, I'll start my purge of the city. No matter what he does to stop me."

You're going to have to accept that not everyone is going to explain things to you in a way you can understand! Extend one hoof from your body and then I'll tell you what we're doing."

Nightfall reluctantly extended his hoof, after hesitating for a moment. He thought about unleashing his power a bit and killing Jack then and there.

"All right, fine! You win! Now, what are we doing? Honestly, this has to be good and helpful..." He muttered the last bit.

"I want you to focus your spirit energy into your hoof. With all of the spirit energy you've gained from the spirit cuffs, you should be able to manifest it into a small shield." Jack put one of his hoofs in front of Nightfall's extended leg. "This will be an exorcize in blocking energy attacks. Be careful. This might kill you." He charged a small ball of lightning into his hoof. "You have three seconds starting now."

Nightfall focused some energy in his hoof, creating a small, weak shield. He slowly focused more energy in the shield as it grew a bit thicker and bigger. He didn't try hurrying, because he knew he couldn't hurry and succeed; past experiences had told him so.

"Good, now you've learned how to manifest your spiritual energy as well as magic. Now we'll perfect it." Knowing that this was Nightfall's first attempt, Jack reduced the amount of energy in his attack and fired it directly at the shield. It wouldn't be enough to kill him, but Nightfall would be injured if he didn't stop it.

Nightfall held up his hoof and tried to block the shot. The power in the shield was slowly getting stronger, and he knew that this could work to his advantage. Maybe he could... No, this was just practice. He should not try anything he did not think he could do.

Jack charged a second strike, this time it was a larger amount of energy. "I hate that we have to rush through this." he commented, "It would be better if we had just a few more years to train. That being said, It's time to rush. Get ready again, you have ten seconds."
