Wits nodded. "If he's coming (which I still protest), best to at least arm him." He grabbed a pistol and loaded it. "But I fully expect everypony to try and keep him as safe as possible. He'll be in the middle of the phalanx, and we get him out at the FIRST sign of trouble, okay?"

Den nodded, with a look that actually, for once, displayed his emotions. Determination, unease, and a tinge of fear. He quickly smothered it; now was not the time. He took the pistol, and gave it to Patches, "Point, shoot. You aim with the sights; when they're lined up, you shoot. Don't hesitate, you'll second guess yourself. Don't aim unless you're ready to pull the trigger. Make sure you breath. Understand?"

"If you're giving the kid a gun, I suppose that means you want to slow him down with unnecessary weight." Jack said as he tightened the wrappings around his head. "You remember how much good those guns did against Seiryu, yes? Well they're going to be a hell of a lot less effective on Karasu."

"I actually got a couple of shots in on Seiryu," Wits noted. "It didn't harm him all that much, but it did damage him significanlty. Not that any of us really managed to kill him ourselves. It was more 'wait until he died' on that fight. The guns are to slow him down. There's a lot of kinetic force in here. He can't just point blank ignore them."

Patches accepted the gun, though he knew it wouldn't do much. "Is there a holster for this?" he asked, "I can't just carry it around, thts dangerous, right?"

 

"Are we all done here? I'd like to get moving." Said an annoyed Jack, "Where is Cherry Blossom? We can't leave without her."

Wits handed Patches a holster. "We're all here," Wits said. "Sapphire, Speedy, on deck!" He ordered the two police officers. "Those guarding the facility, take position and prepare yourselves. Sapphire, Maven, Den, you are with me. The young Mister Patches and former officer Miss Blossom, if you would prepare. Nightfall," he said, turning to the police captain. "Wits End, Detective Specialist, reporting for duty." He gave a quick salute to the captain.

Wits handed Patches a holster. "We're all here," Wits said. "Sapphire, Speedy, on deck!" He ordered the two police officers. "Those guarding the facility, take position and prepare yourselves. Sapphire, Maven, Den, you are with me. The young Mister Patches and former officer Miss Blossom, if you would prepare. Nightfall," he said, turning to the police captain. "Wits End, Detective Specialist, reporting for duty." He gave a quick salute to the captain.

 

Den was studying Patches, "Wits, can Patches have a gun?" He asked; he'd feel a bit better if his son had a gun. Grizzly Claw was unreliable, especially when Patches pushed himself too hard.

 

Sapphire arrived, happily humming, "Witsy ate my brownies! They aren't terrible after all!~"

 

Maven sighed, waiting for Speedy to answer her question.

 

"She did when she ran out of here crying, and it seemed like she really would cry a river until I showed up..."

She pretty much muttered this to Maven. She stood there, located the armory, and figured she would walk with them until the armory, where she would grab her big gun and patrol the station.

 

"Finally, he accepts my command," he muttered under his breath, barely audible to even himself.

"Wits, we're all going in together. No need to split up until we get close, and we'll talk about it on the way. We need to get out now."

He stood up, magically gather his pistols, his Demon Blitz, and a long coat.

((I'll post a pic of what Demon Blitz looks like in the OOC soon. And the coat is like one of those that Sherlock Holmes wears; the long ones...))

Jack threw Nightfall the paper with Karasu's map. "It's a mine system south of town. It was abandoned after the miners completely depleted it of coal. It also might not be completely stable. So we need to be extra careful." He walked to the front door and leaned against the wall.

"I'll have my demolitions team set up the explosives on top of the mine," Wits said. "Only as a last resort, but I'd rather have that then go into this place blind." He scribbled something down on a scrap of paper, and then set off to call someponies about it. He returned slightly later and nodded that it had been done.

Jack threw Nightfall the paper with Karasu's map. "It's a mine system south of town. It was abandoned after the miners completely depleted it of coal. It also might not be completely stable. So we need to be extra careful." He walked to the front door and leaned against the wall.

 

"Got it."

He kept walking, looking at the map. He stopped at the door, magically bringing over a saddle bag and a map of the city and its outskirts. He put the saddle bag on and opened the map of the city. He quickly located the mine. He then turned around and signaled for the others to follow.

"No backing out now. We all go in together, and we stay together unless we need to split up."

He turned to Wits.

"No explosives. Like the pony just said, it most likely is unstable. So we'll have to watch our gunfire if we decide we need to discharge rounds."

"And I'll need to be careful with Demon Blitz..."

"Let's go."

 

Speedy walked with them, disappearing for a short time when they passed the armory. She came out and watched them prep to leave with a big, heavy machine gun.

In an alleyway near the police station, an indescript young stallion stood with radio in hand, looking at the police station.

 

"Yeah boss," he said. "It looks like they're up to something. Got some kind of wolves patrolling the whole joint. Nothing a bit of gunfire won't fix though."

 

"Good," said Sunburn on the other line. "Now get back here and we'll prep the team. This goes down tonight, and I'll make sure they can't interfere anymore." He turned it off and grabbed a tommy gun from his desk, then barked orders at his thugs.

 

Time to attach explosives to everything.

Sapphire went up to Speedy before they left, "Speedy, I have a really really REALLY bad feeling about this. I want you to be extra careful, because if I was a street-lord like the one Den never caught, I would attack the police station right after we leave. And because my throat itches, and that usually means something unexpected is going to happen." She hugged the other mare, and got back together with the group.

 

Maven stood next to Nightfall, watching Sapphire and Speedy. "You really think it's a love connection, or just Sapphire being, well, Sapphire?"

 

Den came up next to Wits, "I know you hate my methods. I learned street-fighting before I learned gun-slinging, sir. A long story short, it makes for more coup-de-grace and less finesse. I can try to fight honorably, but I make no promises."

"It's not about honor," Wits said. "You go in swinging, and you make sure that you come out. Whatever you need to do in between is your business. But we are police officers. Our task is not to kill Karasu, but bring him to justice. If that means he has to die to protect others, then so be it. But if there is a point where we have him capture, we make sure he answers for his crimes, not dies for them. Alright?"

Quickly saluted, blushing, "About that... Cherry- that is Rune Tar Cherry- was going to rip his heart out. I saved him from a painful death. They say an open casket wound can leave a pony alive for a full 5 minutes. Plus, I was trying to make it less messy." He looked away.

Wits nodded. "We've restrained Cherry in the past, and I would have preferred to do so in this instance. Remember, you can only control what you do. You were responsible for killing him. The rune tar was responsible for trying to slaughter him. You can't pass off your responsibility to anyone else."

"Karasu isn't going to let you arrest him." Jack stated, "He isn't going to let this end without bloodshed. This will be the end for either us or him. I expect that he will kill himself before he gives you a chance to cuff him. By the time this ordeal is over, at least one pony will be dead."

"Would you quit being so Celestia-mooned moody?" Wits said, turning on Jack. "All you ever talk about is how 'Karasu is too difficult to be beaten' and how 'we're all pathetic' and 'this will only end with bloodshed'. Can we for once here something cheery out of you? That's it, I'm suspending your speaking privileges until you say something happy." Wits glared at Jack.

Den frowned, but he still managed a nice salute. I don't blame Cherry Blossom for that, do I? His mind had a brief flashback to the exact moment he'd gutted Karasu. No. No I do not. This, of course, was though out with the face of a brick, and only Sapphire really understood what he was thinking about.

He sighed and shook his head.

"All right, everypony! Lets move!"

Nightfall turned around and stepped outside.

 

Both Jack and Patches followed, letting Nightfall lead.

Karasu was now sitting at the entrance to the mine.

 

When they kick your ass, I'm taking over. You got that?

 

That might never happen. I doubt Envy can ever be defeated when he sees something he wants.

Wits followed behind Nightfall, prepping his gun and discussing tactics.

 

"I think this guys aura is going to be too difficult to manipulate in combat. I think I should take a support role, healing, defending, helping where I can and countering his spells while you guys take a more active combat role. I don't know how the tar works perfectly yet. If something should change, I might have to go more active. But above all, we keep Patches and Cherry Blossom safe. They are civilians, prior experience and skill notwithstanding."

"Alright, that was easier than i thought. I'll just be uh, here... waiting for whatever is coming to arrive"

He continued towards the kitchen, can't fight while your stomach is fighting you as well. No need to get a heavy meal though, wouldn't want to take too long.

Den nodded, "Would you like Sapphire to help you with that Wits, or do you want her to be my sword? As for roles, I can take more than a few hits; I'll be up front." He unconsciously scratched the scar on his back, thinking, I wonder if Nightfall remembers that.

 

Sapphire put on a brave face, but she was worried about the station, especially about the copy machine and the kitchen. And her candy-stache. And Wits's office. Let's not- oh, she was worried about a lot.

 

Maven nodded to Nightfall, "I'll be with Wits, playing songs for you. I'll only use my sword in his defense. That way he can concentrate all of his attention on you guys."

Wits looked at Den. "I think we should have Sapphire start on support, but things are clearly going to get tougher. When we're at the final battles, you should probably go weapon form."

 

He glanced at Sapphire. "I know you're worried. Just stay calm. I'm here, and I've got a plan. If we stay calm and controlled, nothing can go wrong. Karasu is going down."

 

Finally, he turned to Maven. "A defensive support would be excellent. We are going to become the lifeblood and core of the group. If we go down, we're all bucked to the moon."

Den and Maven nodded, but Sapphire looked confused, "What are you talking about Witsy? It's not us I'm worried about, I'm worried about the station. The two highest ranking officers and their replacements are all leaving this place unoccupied, AND we're probably the strongest officers. Minus Speedy and Magnus, this place isn't going to be very protected, sir..."
