"The dimwit made the right call on this one." He said, "You can't pretend like theres some perfect solution to every problem. Sometimes the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. You will have to put ponies in danger and some of them may die. You're going to have to live with that. This isn't a pretty world, kid, and you've got a front row seat to the worst of it."

Sapphire (hint hint) looked out from her stall, "Really?" She smiled slowly, then closed her eyes in a carefree manner that was beginning to be her trade mark. Then she started bouncing, slowly, then getting faster, until at max speed, "WwHaT kInD oF bRoWnIeS dO yOu LiKe?" she asked, and then she slipped, and fell, and started laughing. Den, who felt this, was thinking, What the heck?

Speedy walked up to the entrance of Sapphire's stall.

"But preferable ones that have peanut butter in them, and peanut butter chocolate chip brownies that you make."

"Okie dokie!" she began to bounce again, and her horn glowed. In the police kitchen, pots and pans and ingredients were moving and being cooked, until there was a ding, and a plate of brownie apeared momentarily on the counter. Then they teleported with a flash, and levitated, next to Sapphire at head levle.

Wits grabbed a plate of brownies that came from someone who couldn't quite tell, right next to a mare he couldn't make out at the time, but they were delicious. He looked at Jack. "Statistically, I am brilliant, y'know that? You have no evidence to call me dimwitted. "No. That's where you're wrong. Sometimes we're put into situations where our only options result in the deaths of the ones we care about. I've been alive a lot longer than you have, so trust me. I know. You've put yourself in a position where you're going to have to make those choices and it won't always be pretty. You act so much like Karasu that it scares me. Just like him, you've built a little box of logic around you that tells you how to see the world, and as soon as you're presented with something that contradicts that, you crash. Take a lesson from the dimwit and stop thinking so much."

Wits looked at him. "Did you ever learn my name? My name is Wits End. That might not mean anything to you, but to me its always been a reminder that there is no point when I can stop. Not when rationality end. Not when it becomes hard. Not when some schmuck unicorn tries to tell you that there's no happy way out of this. You can tell me that all of Tartarus is after me and I'll smile, because I'm thinking a way out of it, and it will be perfect. I've failed before. I've seen the best and the worst in ponies. I've seen horrors that would make Karasu disbelieve just how bad things are. But I never give up. Not at the end of logic. Not a the end of time. And I pity whatever bastard seems to think that they can stop me once I've got a plan."

 

He nodded at Nightfall. "The kid's young. Pretty smart, too. But he made a mistake and he panicked. I'm trying to correct that. I'm teaching him what it means to be a police officer And Celestia willing, he'll learn that you can't sacrifice the good for anything. Not for personal gain, or to get the next best thing. It's always going to come down to you and your choices. And all you can do is your best. Bust most of the time... Most of the time it works."

That ruffled Maven's feathers, "For your information, Nightfall thinks very hard, thank you very much!" Because if he didn't, then he wouldn't have said such nice things about my music, or me. She frowned at this pony; she could see he was trying to make a point, just didn't understand why Nightfall was the target, "Why don't you use the emotionless brick?"

 

Den looked at her, "Excuse me?"

 

She rolled her eyes, "Ya, you! Who else looks at hundreds of dead bodies at a hospital and doesn't even look remorseful?"

 

"You don't know what you're talking about Maven. I have feelings, but I found out a long time ago that they don't matter, ponies don't think feelings are any good unless it's a quirk, or a smile. Most of them don't know what it means to feel pain."

 

Maven leaned over, "Can't you just take one for the team?" she whispered.

 

Den blushed when he realized that the 'meaness' was just a ploy to redirect attention off of Nightfall, and blushed, "I mean, yep! No feelings here except love for Cherry Blossom and my 9 sons!"

Magneus entered the police station, and then his wolves came in... and then some more wolves... and some... more? And more and more and more.

"Guys... i think something might have happened at the library which may have overloaded the magic in the area, i can't stop the wolves from being created. And if you didn't know, my wolves get smarter and apart from me, meaning they wont be under my control, meeaaaning they could possibly go out and cause alot of problems"

Wits sighed and walked up to Magneus, igniting his magic to examine the wolf's aura. "Let me take a look at it," he said. "Best get this sorted out. Can you help Speedy watch the station during the assault? This is a critical juncture, and I could really use my partner's help on it."

"Wait, there is going to be an assault? Well if that's true then keeping the wolves might be an advantage, although i can't control very many at once."

He looked over at one of the wolves who turned out to be female, he had no idea how that happened. But the thing that worried him the most, is that she was looking at him with lustrous eyes. "That can't be good..."

"There can only be 7 preset ponies," Wits explained. "If I could have you along I would do so in a second." He made some tweaks to the aura to try and see if it changed anything. "How much of you is wolf and how much is pony? It's a question worth asking.

Jack leaned toward Nightfall and whispered, "As soon as Wits is finished with whatever he's doing, I need you to get everyone together. Sapphire is in the bathroom and I'm not sure where Maven and Cherry Blossom are. It's best that we confront Karasu sooner than later."

A sudden look of realization came across his face.

"Maven, go get them back here. And Wits, for the love of Celestia, hurry up!"

 

Speedy grabbed a brownie and ate it.

"Mm! Really good, Sapphire!"

Maven gave him a look of confusion, "What is it Nightfall? You think their dooing something illegal?" (You caught me, these are pot brownies. *Rolleyes* )

 

Sapphire blushed, "Th-th-thank you Speedy." Is this the part where I kiss her? Or was that supposed to wait... A quick peck won't hurt, right? But- Nope, too late! She gave Speedy a quick peck on the lips that Speedy could easily turn into a kiss if she wanted.

She was a bit surprised at first, but she did turn it into a kiss. But she broke after only a short time.

"Since you are better, we probably should get back to the others.."

Sapphire nodded, smiling, "Okay." She hopped out of the bathroom, and crashed into maven, who's mask got thrown of. Delphina gave a startled look, through a hoof over her face, and grabbed for the mask, putting it back on. It was a bit of a gymnastic spectacle.

 

Maven sighed, "Alright Nighty. But I thought Sapphire was straight..." She is kinda cute... I was always looking at Nightfall's masculinity, though... She trotted down to the bathroom, when Sapphire was suddenly exitting, and was crashed into. Her mask flyed off, and she developed a bit of panic; Of all the places! Of all the places for the adhesive to where off! She jumped, caught it, and put it on her face, spinning and quickly humming a time-reversal song. The adhesive grew sticky again.

Speedy came out and almost tripped over them.

"Oh! I'm so sorry, I didn't- Maven..? Wait, what are you doing here?"

Speedy blushed a bit.

Maven blew some hair out of her eyes, "To make sure that the secratary and the feild angent weren't doing something naughty in the work place. Nighty thinks you two are 'together'." She looked at Sapphire, who was bouncing with a wide grin and facehoofed, "Correction, Nightfall KNOWS you two are together. He wants you two up there, so you don't miss anything. Oh, Sapphire, Wits ate your brownies."

 

"... Witsy ate my brownies?" It was like a holy light shined through the window, "Look! The big meany guys like my brownies after all!" She hugged Speedy.

"Great. Maybe he's going to talk to me and fire me... No, maybe... Stop being pessimistic.!"

"Well... Um... Shouldn't we be going? We shouldn't keep him waiting..."

Ever since Maven had mentioned Nightfall knowing the two were together, Speedy had had a blush on her cheeks.

Maven nodded, and Sapphire nodded five times faster and bounced away In an aside to Speedy, she asks, "Does she ever slow down? I swear, ever since I've met her, even in SADNESS, she's been energetic. Energetic sadness... she could probably cry a litteral river."

(He didn't implode. That's stupid. He just said that because he was annoyed. Saying that one of the villains spontaneously imploded is really taking away from the seriousness of this RP.)

 

Jack and Patches stared at each other for an awkward moment, then turned away from each other.

"It just looks to be a fair amount of excess energy in your internal magical systems," Wits said, casting a couple of spells. "There. I'm draining it into your general energy. You'll feel full of energy 'til its done, but the wolves will stop getting more powerful and you should be able to control them.

 

"Let's go," he said, grabbing fairly powerful rifle and ammunition for the same, charging it as he went.

Den was studying Patches, "Wits, can Patches have a gun?" He asked; he'd feel a bit better if his son had a gun. Grizzly Claw was unreliable, especially when Patches pushed himself too hard.

 

Sapphire arrived, happily humming, "Witsy ate my brownies! They aren't terrible after all!~"

 

Maven sighed, waiting for Speedy to answer her question.
