"Honestly, Jack, I don't remember what you said... Something about you, Rando, and me having to kill somepony.."

Nightfall, despite just waking up from being knocked out, was tired. The only thing on his mind was Maven. He hoped she was safe, and that nothing too bad had happened to her.

 

"I said you were going to have to kill me. How in the hell do you forget something like that? I must not make much of an impression on you."

Patches had been training through all his spare time for something like this to happen, but when it did, he froze up like some stupid kid and hid himself under a table. The doctor had unlocked his spiritual awareness, and the powerful vibes he got off of Cherry scarred him half to death.

"I didn't want to do this Cherry," his thought sounded extremely depressed. After he said it a blue mist came up around her, then solidified into bindings. He grimaced and ran the rest of the way to the police station. Panting, he saw a wolf and Wits, "Wits," he panted, "I need your help. There's a lot of ponies dead, and more are going to die soon if you don't."

"P-Please don't kil-" A stallion begged for his life as Cherry Blossom smashed him against the wall and devoured his heart. She continued to the last floor of the hospital and went to finish the rest. One at a time, but a blue mist seemed to be really irritating her. Though she came across a room of newborn foals...

Karasu watched Den pass him again. He loved the way Dens mane moved when he ran. He loved everything about his panicked face and he wished to have it for himself. He followed him to the police station and waited.

"Mostly paperwork," said Wits lightly. "But I have to ask: are you a registered extranormal power user? Because under Statute of Law given by Celestia, we have no choice but to register all who have such powers. And if you want to be a vigilalnte, that's more to do. What's your name?" He went to the computer and began typing in information.

"Either that, or temporary amnesia due to blood loss and that fact that I was smacked around a lot."

Nightfall lie there. How would he kill Jack if it took so many to kill Rando?

"I only wish Maven were here." He whispered this, as if he thought it and it forced it's way out.

Maven looked in the mirror tiredly, washing her face, more to think than to get it clean. The then sat on her couch, until she couldn't take it anymore. She put her costume back on, still warm from the dryer, and re-stocked it. Then she jumped out of the window and snapped out her wings, playing a song about a maiden looking for her knight.

 

Den stomped into the police station. Normally he wouldn't mind being ignored; normally his girlfriend wasn't killing helpless ponies. "Wits, are you deaf? Cherry is loose in the hospital, hoof it! She got out when I was coming to have our... Talk." He took off his hoof cuffs, "You can register him later, when we catch him robbing a pizzaria. Or when you catch him, rather." Den looked tired, he hadn't eaten in a day because he was to busy, and his sleep had been strained. The love of his life had gone crazy somehow, and was rampaging through a hospital. Afterwards, he was thinking he faced jail-time.

Of course, i wasn't exactly fighting you, but i 'was' helping the bad guy, i was half expecting you to try and arrest me" he looked up at the officer and chuckled, "But whats the harm in a licence? My name is Magneus, but i kinda already toldja that"

Patches began to sneak around the hospital, following Cherry. He was not going to allow her to kill again. He would stop her if she lashed out again.

Karasu watchd Den, Wits and Magneus theough on of the warehouse windows. He loved all of their facs, but Den's was his favorite.

"Come out here." Jack told Nightfall, "We have to talk. It's time I stopped being so secretive."

Maven opened her eyes when the wind stopped and saw a small cottage with a square of freshly dug dirt. Remembering that Jack had promised to bury Rando. She sighed, landing as the door opened, preparing to be turned away. She didn't feel very strong, and a lot of her confidence had left. She was tired, and only partly from the finding song.

Wits looked at Magneus. "I don't quite recall," he admitted. "Can you wait here briefly?"

 

He walked up to Den "Cherry is on the loose again?" He paused briefly. "I'll handle the situation, get someone on it. I'm suspending you from the force for a single week and docking your pay for use of unneccessary force in the case of the demon. I need your badge." He made calls, trying to get in contact with Nightfall.

Jack saw Maven enter as he waited for Nightfall to respond. He did not turn her away, nor did he greet her. He simply waited for her to do what she had came for.

Karasu's thoughts rushed behind his empty eyes. 'Seven graves will do for now. One for each, the seven of us. We'll kill them all, the ponies, the princess and the worms. We'll kill them. I'll kill them. I'll kill them all. I'll kill them all! I'LL KILL THEM ALL!' His thoughts were now a loud chant. To him, it sounded like a song.

Karasu stepped in front of Den as he walked home. "You seem so upset." he said, "I don't like seeing you upset. It makes me feel awful." If Den could see under his mask, he would know that Karasu was smiling. "Why are you so sad?" He asked as he tilted his head and widened his red eyes.

Nightfall walked out of the cottage and almost bumped into Maven.

"I'm coming, Jack.. Ow.. You know, these pains- woah! Oh, Maven! Um.. Hi.."

Nightfall blushed a bit, then looked at Jack.

"Um.. You called?"

He nervously shifted his hooves. He didn't really want Maven to hear some talk about him having to kill Jack.

Jack paid Maven no mind since she seemed not to intend to do anything. "Are you going to ask for details on my request, or do you just intend to wing it without even knowing why I requested it?" Jack asked, "I would strongly suggest the former. These are things you need to learn."

Patches kept closer to Cherry, keeping himself hidden well and trying not to gag.

Nightfall wondered what Maven would think of Jacky's request. Maybe she would try to help. Maybe he should have tried harder to help kill Rando. Maybe he should apologize for not being able to help...

"One week. I won't," was Wits stern problem. As soon as Den was gone, he sighed and almost started to heave all over, then pulled himself together. He turned to Sapphire. "We can't just keep running around like madmen over here. We need some sort of discipline, and as much as I hate it, it needs to be done. He brutally attacked an already defeated man and wouldn't let him be taken in for questioning after he had been detained."

 

He sat down heavily. "I'll let Nightfall review it, but the facts are there, and it had to be done. For now though, his marefriend is ripping up half the fucking town and I don't know what do about it. Where is Nightfall? I haven't seen him since the incident."

 

He continued trying to contact Nightfall, and sent a few of the newer recruits instructions to restrict pedestrian flow into that area of the town. Hopefully something would be done. If he didn't get a response within the hour, he would go himself.

Nightfall wondered what Maven would think of Jacky's request. Maybe she would try to help. Maybe he should have tried harder to help kill Rando. Maybe he should apologize for not being able to help...

 

"You and I are very different." Jack started. "You may have accepted demonic powers, but that does not make you a Malificar. I do not wish to go into the details, but I will say that the things one does to become a malificar involves a lot of risk and one big consequence. Do you remember what I said? 'Nobody is ever a one pony show. Every decision you make affects the countless people who care about you.' Perhaps Rando was never taught this, or perhaps he ignored it. It is impossible to know why he did what he did. Maybe he wanted the strength to protect the ones he cared for. It doesn't matter. That's the problem: Nobody cares what you've done or why if you become a monster. A lifetime of good can be wiped away by one day of being a demon. That brings us to myself. I never sold my soul like Rando, but I will share his fate. Because of the mistakes of my past, I will become a demon and I know not when. You asked me once why I wanted you to be stronger. The reason that I have been training you is because you are the only pony who will be able to kill me when this happens! You just don't know your own strength. As you stand now, you are still not able to do this task. As a Malificar, my power is unfiltered. Right now I am a middle B class. When I transform, I will be a lower A class. Rando at his full power was only a lower B class..."

Maven could sense she was unwanted, "Jack, may I go inside? You can talk about... Whatever, I just want to be with Nightfall afterwords.

Den was instantly suspicious of this pony. "I'm fine, and I tend to keep my distance from strangers." He walked on past this pony, to his old apartment. It'd become dirty, and the cloth-beds were missing, but his key still worked. He layed down and concentrated on restraining Cherry as best he could, not forgetting to lock his door before hand.

"So what you are saying is that i need to kill you at some point... the weird thing is.. why not now? I mean... It might eliminate the inevitable threat.."

He spoke in lower tones, trying not to concern Maven or drag her into this. Then he got Wits' call.

"Yeah? Wits! Glad your alive! What's wrong?"

Karasu skillfully followed Den and taped a note to his apartment door.

 

'Seven graves will do for now. Eight will die and one will not be buried. This is only the start of the game. We will kill them all, the seven of us. We will kill you, your princess and the worms. The worms will eat and destroy until nothing is left but piss!

 

I love you, and when I love something, I love to take it away.'

 

The note was sealed with a red heart. He left the apartment and went back to walking the streets.

Jack nodded to Maven and waited for Nightfall to respond.

 

"So what you are saying is that i need to kill you at some point... the weird thing is.. why not now? I mean... It might eliminate the inevitable threat.."

He spoke in lower tones, trying not to concern Maven or drag her into this. Then he got Wits' call.

"Yeah? Wits! Glad your alive! What's wrong?"

 

Jack expected this question. "Because that will speed up the process, dimwit! If suicide was an option, I would have already done it. Killing me now will put in a one on one fight with an A class Demon. What was the last demon you killed without an army of friends helping you? Hirue? Oh, far be it from me to doubt the great Hirue slayer! Heaven knows he was a great plague on this earth! Yes, the squirrels of the forrest will rejoice at the death of their only known predator! You need to get stronger or else you'll always be what you are now: Nightfall, King of The Squirrels."

"Seriously, please stop insulting me. Honestly, I've done something I completely regret already this week, and your insults make me feel worse about what I've done. So, to get this straight, I must train more?"

He was confused, hurt both physically and emotionally, and tired.

 

((It's true. I feel horrible about something I said yesterday. At first, it didn't seem so bad, but later when someone else brought it back up, she seemed annoyed a bit. I want to apologize in person, but that means waiting until Sunday...))

Magneus kinda just... sat there... outside... waiting for the detective. "Oh boy, this is sure fun... eh, they wont mind if i come in..." he said and continued to walk into the police station, it seemed to be bigger on the inside. He laid down on the waiting bench (?) and 'waited' for the detective to come back.

Cherry Blossom's ears perked up and her attention turned away from the newborn foals. Her senses told her that there was somepony following her, but it wouldm't take her too long to find her and murder him without mercy. She walked around the room intimidatingly, in search of the pony.
