Friendship is... Confusing

So, ever since I've become a brony. I've been thinking about what my friends would think of me being one. Nobody but one of my friends knows. But he is open minded enough to not judge me for it. I wish every one of my friends were like that but they aren't. Well as far as I know. I would like some advice on whether or not to tell them and/or what to say. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Thank you all for the love and support!

If you think it could do more harm than good I would be very cautious about that.If they're really your friends they wouldn't really mind it :)

Don't force it on though

"Why, am I not royal enough for you? Don't you know who I am?"

Ooh! Ooh! More guessing games! Um... Pokey Smokes! How about Queen Meanie? No! Black Snooty, Black Snooty!

Just don't bring it up forcefully. Just ease it into conversation... Like if your talking about TV shows, just say you watch it it's not that big of a thing.

Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm just being oversensitive about this or worrying too much. I find it hard to trust people. I had a not so nice time in the lower grade levels which I believe led to it. But I think youre right.

If you don't make it a big deal others likely won't as well. They are your friends, they shouldn't do anything worse than possibly teasing you (in good humor, of course) for a while.

If a friend is gonna judge you negatively for liking some television show, then he's/she's the fool and you should find some new people to associate yourself with.

Tell all of your friends. If they don't like it and decide to no longer be friends with you then just forget them, they are too shallow to be your friends. Think about it. If they can't accept something as small as you liking a show, then are they really good friends?

(answer: fuck no)

eeeyup lol quite possible. I havent told my parents either. My dad would quite possibly disown me XD My mom wouldnt care though. I only told my friend who really knew the internet well too lol. He works on computers so I knew he'd been around 4chan enough to know about bronies

If your own dad disowns you just for being a Brony, then he really has some issues. If he does find out and for whatever reason finds you weird, just keep on thinking that he grew up a generation before us that was upheld behind these sorts of "not normal" activities. Then learn to compromise with him and then maybe he'll understand.

My dad doesn't like the fact that I'm a radical Socialist who watches this stuff too, but he's come to terms with it. Eventually, they realize that you are you and there's nothing they can do to stop it.

I was over exaggerating on that he would disown me but he really does have that kind of close minded mentality about him some times. But it would take a while for him to get use to the idea that im a brony

Yeah, exactly. Sooner or later, they'll understand that they can't keep you under wraps forever. Even the most stubborn parents realize that their kids are growing up in an age where new ideas and social cultures are emerging.

Tell your mom. She actually will be happy cause it is positive (the show). I told her and she actually smiled and thought that it was great. My brother likes it too and my mom knows, so she knows it is now normal. Im already working on converting my sister. Convering people to bronies is easy. I have only done it once though. I hope I don't go to Brony Level 3 and actually go around converting random prople to bronies. I just want my siblings and parents to like the show, that is it. I think I'm talking too much and need to get some sleep

If you really want to tell them (this could go horribly wrong), I'd subtly give hints that you're a brony. Just stating the fact really isn't a good idea for the situation you're in. If they still can't accept you for who you are, they aren't really your friends.

Don't worry about it. Just don't Leroy in and be like, "I WATCH MLP GUYS I DESERVE ALL THE ATTENTION I'M SO SPECIAL", just slowly blend it into your conversations. And if they hate you for it, then they weren't your friends and it's not your fault at all.

I've seen many of these threads, And i always try to help as much as i can because i was once in the same situation. I told everyone. No-one really minds too much. If you just tell them that you are a 'Brony' without an explanation as to what a Brony is, That can raise you're Self esteem until you really want to, But the truth is, No one else really needs to know. But if you find any more Brony's you know (As i did myself), Life cheers up a whole lot. Message me if you need a hand, mate. I know how hard it is =D

Well, I personally don’t think it is at all necessary to tell them. Not to say that you should be ashamed or anything, but why not avoid the potential conflict all together if you can? If you feel it is something you must do for whatever reason then I’d just tell them straight up, don’t make it a big deal, I think the more serious you make it the bigger of a deal it becomes so just tell them as casually as you can. Don’t plan anything out just drop into conversation whenever it feels right. Also, from my personal experience my friends don’t like the show at all, but they are cool with it they know I absolutely adore ponies, just know if your friends are at all like mine then they’ll give you a hard time about it, but then again what are friends for, right?

Thank you all for your help and support. You all have wonderful advice and I intend to take your advice and hint on it here and there. And as for my parents I dont think they will care or understand so if they do find out I wont make a big deal out of it. Thank you all again for all the support.

Brony on everyone
